Wrong. The premier league are acting because they don’t want a football regulator enforced on them. They are attempting to give the impression that they can be entrusted to self govern and a football regulator isn’t needed.
Yeah I'd agree with that, it's an attempt to show they have the will to dish out big punishments and keep their house in order. Probably too little too late though. Plus they didn't agree to a new deal with the EFL.

Sporting integrity? Like the Bundesliga? What is it? Bayern on 11 straight titles.
I think I prefer the Premier League.
My conspiracy theory is the big 6 want it to be a closed shop in terms of challenging for the league (probably big 2 in Utd & Liverpool ) and to make it more like the German league were only the top couple challenge -- they pushed for all the financial change in their own league and now Newcastle have to obide by the rules to an extent so they can't just blow everyone out of the water financially . I would be suprised if City are not severely punished . They want to regulate it on their own terms and dish out the pennies to the peasants lower down - there was a really good podcast I think with that old Crystal Palace owner (Jordan?) He interviewed Rick Parry who's the EFL chairman , it's a decent listen on the subject . I prefer lower league myself anyway or even non league , been to a good few epl games and never enjoyed them give me Town all day long and a weekend in Weymouth.

The recent vote re allowing players to be transferred during the closed window has taken the Premier league to new depths.
Curse Newcastle, hope they get relegated. I sympathise with their brilliant fans. Curse the Premier League if they don’t relegate Man City by 5 leagues like Glasgow Rangers were before Curse the Premier League if Chelsea are not relegated by at least 3 leagues.
The soul of sporting integrity is dead. Get JS onto the case before we are all prostituted by the corrupt money of overseas despots and crooks.
Totally agree

FFP is designed for 2 reasons. Firstly to stop another club like Leicester from either winning the PL or taking a UCL spot. Secondly it’s to pull the ladder up and stop another Chelsea or Man City from happening. FFP is anti competitive. It enshrines the current financial advantages forever. If it was up to me I’d just get rid of Premier League FFPaltogether and allow clubs to spend what they like. So if somebody wanted to buy Preston North End and spend billions getting them established in the PL they could. However… once a bankrolled club reach European competition they would have to obey UEFA’s FFP. So under that system the clubs in Europe are under FFP but everyone else isn’t until the moment they qualify for Europe.

It's not just in the Prem that wealthy owners splash the cash.
It seems football clubs are just playthings for the wealthy to boost their ego's buy buying sporting success. The practice of pumping tons of cash into clubs, which they often have no prior relationship with, simply distorts competition making it almost impossible for clubs trying to run sustainably to compete.
Of course it is often the case that these sugar daddies eventually get bored and move on leaving the club and its genuine supporters in the lurch.
Football economics are crazy. But I cant see how its possible to bring it back to any kind of normality.

'I walked in the dressing room. The window was open and I thought that a sea fret had got in. Then I saw smoke billowing from a pipe in the corner of the room...it was my centre-forward. He looked seven stone wet through. He went on to score thirty-odd goals that season.' Lawrie McMenemy on encountering the legend that was Matt Tees.

Not be too many seasons in the future when a premiership game will be played abroad, somewhere in the Middle East is favourite.

Says during the windows on the reports I read. 🤷🏼♂️
It is during windows but can be between co-owned clubs.
