Anybody else think Emmanuel is a very similar player to big Keith Alexander, especially with the assists today

Don’t think big Keith, even after a few, would have claimed that…always struck me as a supremely modest bloke who probably could hardly believe the level he had got to play at with us…

No but I wonder how soon Hurst offers Manny an extension on his contract. He's a step above any other right sided players we have

This. I'll be very very shocked (but very happy!) If he signed on for another season with us.

100% he is here to get himself fit and in the shop window, short term fix for both parties, no chance of seeing him stay at this level for long.

He's far better than them, when he gets fully going. We're lucky to have him, enjoy it while we can, don't think there's any chance of extending his deal.

What's to say we don't make him an offer he can't refuse? On other threads posters moan because we haven't aimed high enough, offered the right money or countless other theoretical reasons as to why we can't sign quality players. Manny is here, knows what the club and area is like so why should it be unlikely that we can't sign him in the summer?

So you know the kind of figure he or his agent would want?

Upper League 1 quality mid twenties £3-£4k a week provided he stays fit.

Unfortunately, unlike 25 years ago, we won't pay the best money even if we wants to stay in the area. Lincoln have replaced Scunthorpe in that respect. Whilst Scunthorpe's wages levels were never sustainable Lincoln's probably are.

For once our location might work in our favour as I assume he is based in the Hull area?
A player of his skill can be a match winner (as his was yesterday) and it's definitely worth a go at extending his contract.

Lincoln are paying what you have to if you want to remain a league 1 club.

Having not played for so long, his motivations might be slightly different. I'm sure we will make him a good offer if he proves his fitness and it would certainly be a statement of intent to start the summer.

I really hope we offer him a contract at the end of the season, but he is a classy League One player, and may be likely to get offers from clubs higher up the pyramid who can offer him more than we can, we will wait and see.

He came here to relaunch his career, Hurst was clear about that and that he’s in theory playing down at least one level and if he gets back to anything like the player he was he won’t be here next season, the club are comfortable with that situation.
If Taylor can stay fit I’d suspect we’ll see a few near post headed goals like the Wrexham one from Emmanuel assists from the right flank.
Let’s enjoy watching him while we’ve got him and not get carried away with fantasies about getting him long term.

I wonder how much he was on at Hull in League One? 6k a week? He might end up back there.
Anyway, 3 bog standard average League 2 right backs, or one League 1 quality right back / wing back, that's if he wanted to stay, if not, no problem.

If we offer him what we offered Ryan Bennett he definitely won't be signing, believe me...

Even Lincoln’s impressive income from gate receipts isn't enough to cover the wages they pay - they need an annual gift from their directors north of £1m each time to stay in the black. Very much the way League 1 works nowadays, by all accounts. As for the Championship, times it by 25, judging by Bristol City and Preston…..

This - it's not too often these opportunities come up but this is the sort of deal we want to be actively targeting whenever it's available. These lads are hugely self-motivated and are on a mission, they know they need to be playing well enough to get themselves into that shop window in the time they have to do it. Would obviously love all the high-calibre players we can get our hands on to stay permanently but it's a win-win as is. There's an argument too that if he plays well here for a few months then earns himself a big move, we'll have a better profile for the next player looking to do the same thing.

It amazes me that there are so many talented young players that are still without clubs. Izzy brown, jordon Ibe, Tom Carroll, Andre wisdom and others. All in their prime (age wise) and still without clubs. Is it down to money, attitude, agents? You’d have liked to think that they would be willing to play at any level just for the sheer thrill of it.

Brown, Ibe and Wisdom all hoovered up from their local youth team by big Premier League sides for large transfer fees and no doubt given the gates to whichever kingdom took their fancy. Subsequently never really managed to live up to any early potential.
Funny that, isn't it?
