Southampton have said we can now take Harry Haddock.

Perhaps the thought of a shoal of a few thousand Harry Haddocks coming into Southampton Water from the Solent and into the River Itchen would upset the shipping. Of course, the shoal would be met by their relevant owners on the slipway opposite St Mary's ground.

The deflated owners of Southampton decided that it was better to let their egos go down with the tide, which goes to show a Haddock is better than a Saint. Not any old Haddock but Harry the Haddock and its owner.

I’m a bit worried the players won’t be motivated by the injustice of the ban on the night now.

Grimsby fans had accused Southampton of being “boring” and “joyless” at a time when they should be rather more concerned with their own on-field crisis.

I’ve got every iteration of Harry Haddock but have never even considered taking one to a game, let alone any other inflatable.

Sorry i disagree,
Yes a gimmick, but over the years has been funny, but has got people talking media etc.= publicity / put us on the map
Come the match we are on telly  As i said at work we are the underdog team all the "Harry" hype people who will watch the match for curiosity sake.
For me win or loose i want to enjoy it being there.
One bloke did say the inflatables  at some matches got on your nerves bouncing around stopping a good view of game ...you cant win .
Ok shake my hand share a beer and see you there.

FWIT I’ve got no problem with Harry haddock or anyone taking inflatables to games , the Barnet day was quality , it’s just us making such a big thing about it and whining on talkSPORT etc just makes the club look tinpot. We’re serious about this game , it’s our chance to go the furthest in the cup for decades . This bo.llocks about a haddock makes us look like we’re treating it like a jolly outing  instead of an important game .
Sorry if that makes me a boring tw.at.

Where i work the blokes are taking an interest and some are "Happy for you ,all the best !" (Those who support clubs are out of the competition)

Some look at the "Harry" scenario as "Louth" says not taking the game serious or taking football serious.
Bear in mind some of them are still in the Cup!
IF and A big IF (We beat Southampton after being at the Gillingham game ) Town will hopefully get to play one of them, which will shake our place up on the loading bay "Banter o meter!" and split the place in half blokes throwing their 5pence worth in left ,right and centre...

Correct. Makes us look like a load of Sunday-league daytripping yokels happy to go & get smashed by the mighty Southampton as long as we can wave a plastic fish about. All this forced-fun, themed day garbage that’s popped up in the last few years after Barnet is really contrived.

The old adage that “ any publicity is good publicity” works for me, who knows some Arab sheikh may whatch the game and think what a great bunch of supporters and club and invest his £100 million.

He would be turned down not sustainable.

Southampton used 17 players today ( Chelsea were also allowed 6 subs)..  I hope none of them play against us as they did very well today.

Just like Town to go and beat the team that won away at the Bank of England club,  

I know that the whole inflatable thing widely divides opinion but if you fall in the 'any publicity is good publicity' camp, there is an opportunity to be on TV next week.

You will no doubt have seen on various news outlets this week, the story regarding Southampton banning Harry Haddock and then having a change of heart.

It’s a story that’s a bit of fun and something that BBC Breakfast, and Mike Bushell, are looking to pre-record a story on.

We’re looking for a number of fans to be at the ground for around 5.30pm next Thursday, with Harry’s in hand and loud voices at the ready! We’re looking for 20 or so people.
