One of the sanctions, if found guilty, is relegation, relegation to where, wh6 should the EFL accept them, send them all the way to the Manchester Sunday league.

The EPL relegate 3 teams every year to the Championship so no reason why City can't be one of them. Relegation elsewhere would be more difficult. They'll probably get a points deduction just enough to avoid relegation IMHO, so would at least miss out on Europe for a year.

If the PL fail to pull City up, they really do open a can of worms for the future.  It sets the precedent that you can ignore Financial Fair Play.

Even a minor fine or suspended sentence just sends the message to other clubs that you can flout the rules, with limited consequences.

I can see something like a 3 point deduction, which they take this season once the title race is done, dusted and out of their hands.

It'll give scunny a nice away game in the National North next season at least

it'll only be Cyril and Enid there who've been supporting them since 1948.

A fine, unless absolutely humongous, would be about as an effective deterrent as the fines doled out to the water companies dumping sh1t in our rivers and on our beaches…

Send them to the level that AFC. Wimbledon had to come back from…

Everyone accusing  Manchester City should remember that they are the ONLY top 6 club who want an independent regulator. The timing of the charges by the EPL coincides with the Govt white paper that has now been postponed for a fortnight. Surely if they (including those piping up on here) believe in fairness in football they'd support MCFC's stance?

It is possible to want both an independent regulator, and to see City punished for their bent accounting (or cheating). The two are not mutually exclusive.

Thing is.

It's 100 charges.

Teams have had points deductions for less than 10 charges.

Juventus got kicked out the league for far less.

Even if 50 if them stick ( which appears likely ) they would be kicked out the league.

Well I think it’s wrong for fans to keep calling these accusations illegal, especially on the part of the media who have been very careful to avoid drawing themselves into libelling City

City have done nothing illegal nor are accused of anything that is actually by definition illegal. The only thing that City have done allegedly wrong is in the context of the UEFA/PL rulebook which actually has no place in law.

In law terms, the league have already made massive mistakes in not communicating and even changing the charges brought against City which was seen in that statement. This in real life and real law would be a case breaker in itself as you can't serve multiple charges and change them as you see fit to achieve a look in the media.

City will likely take the end result to a real court to not only attack any decision on competitive grounds but they'll also challenge the rulebook on common law grounds which is how they appealed the UEFA charges at CAS. UEFA had to tone down their FFP rules in direct response to these legal challenges.

Anyone who really thinks that UEFA or the EPL make these rules to ensure there is proper financial fair play are ridiculously mistaken. The rulebook was created as a form of control and to stifle the type of competition which threatens the established clubs because of the free market that clubs have to operate within.

The other clubs aren't rosy in comparison by any stretch because just look at the ownership models of the likes of United and Liverpool. They have ultimate parent companies registered in places like Delaware and the Cayman Islands... How many grass roots clubs benefit from United being registered in the Cayman Islands to avoid tax?

Financial fair play..... Really?

Match fixing or bribing Refs …. really???

I suspect you haven’t read all 100 charges, some of them like the length of the grass are ridiculous.

Lord Pannick KC who got Boris off re: Partygate will not have taken this case on if he thought he was going to lose it. His reputation would be in tatters!
