Chris Allinson, known on here as Joe56, passed away this morning. He called me two weeks ago to say that his health was deteriorating and asked me to let the Fishy know should the worst happen.
I met Chris in the bar of the hotel we were both staying in before the 2015 playoff semi at Eastleigh. We soon discovered a common love of the Mariners and after the match that our shared tastes extended to real ale and single malt scotch. Lots.
Chris was an erudite man, an Emeritus Professor at Leeds University and a student of all things GTFC.
