...this season then (including the Forest game). About 20 seats left and then the odd seat coming back from STH release. Easily the best stadium utilisation in League 1 and 2. Get a result tomorrow and Stockport will sell out as well. Only about 300 left for that game. Given the home form of this half-season there couldn't really be a more compelling case for increasing the capacity.

Let's not forget this administration have increased the home capacity by adjusting Osmand access / availability and have made the STH release a thing so have done  more in that regard in a short space of time than the previous regime did in 20 yrs

I'll be ringing up today and giving back my 3 seats in the Osmond.. my train to Grimsby was cancelled 1 hour after sitting in the station waiting for it to arrive. No alternative available. Stayed 'home' this festive season for the first time since moving away 10 years ago

I remember that game really well and I remember it being a night game but didn't realise it was a Thursday night, I've always thought it was a Tuesday night

It might be a sell out but I bet there are loads of empty seats. The people who bought season tickets to ensure they’d be able to come to the Bradford, Donny etc home games probably aren’t impressed by the form and style. Did we sell too many* season tickets?

Said as much a week ago. Given you pay about 70% of what you would for individual games, it has an impact on potential total revenue if a large percentage aren't paying full whack and taking up spaces that people who would pay 100% could use.

Yeah, but a bird in the hand and all that.

The way we are playing at home, I doubt people would be breaking down the doors to get in. My brother has stopped going, citing boredom. He releases his ticket, but no takers so far.

Think we would be getting lower attendances if so many hadn't committed to a season ticket, so it's not a simple equation.

It's funny to me that those who were saying how brilliant it was that we had sold record numbers of ST's are now of the opposite view.

You know I'm of a similar mindset to your brother but the four of us won't stop going for that reason. Somehow there seems to be a lack of spark at present - possibly dumbing down expectation. Hopefully, it's a build for next season but, if many respond in the way that your brother has, there may be less in the pot.

My comment was slightly tongue in cheek but there are greater considerations like the drop in revenue game to game (although it is hard to judge how many we’d get in at the minute with our regular ST sales to work out the profit/loss).

I’d say tonight would probably be a Kids for a Quid match given we’ve got 3 home games in nine days coming up. If we want to bring the average age of the the fanbase down (which we no doubt do) those offers need to be on all over the ground.

The casual fan who might not be able to afford or justify a season ticket misses out more often on their chosen area now.

In theory it’s great to have 90% or whatever it is of home areas sold out but there are definitely downsides to it to consider.

Happened last year, result will come back... nearly all home seats sold, OK maybe 300-500 might stay away but clearly we'll over 1,000 tickets onto of season tickets have been sold. So let's hope we put on a good show and keep those who are going tonight coming back

Partly that, but also the price of fuel and the utterly shambolic public transport system that we have in this country.

If I hadn’t have bought a season ticket I would have stopped attending home games a few games ago. There will be many more in the same boat and there will be a massive drop off of ST holders next season

Yes. We are not very good and have ruined any momentum we could have gained.

The value for money has been terrible this season. I wouldn’t be paying £20 a game now in the current financial climate

I think this thought occurred to many at this time last year. Times change in football and who knows what the outcome of the season will be.

Let's hope this transfer window pans out better than the last one - if it doesn't, we could be in trouble.

After the last one we only got promoted up by 1 division. Surely you nor not expecting us, with better transfers, being bumped into the Championship! lol.

When we've sold above home capacity I can see the argument that season ticket holders whose seats have been resold should receive a small reimbursement or club shop credit. A tenner is dreamland though. I bought a season ticket knowing it's possible I would miss some games, that's the risk I took. Happy for the club I support (and a fellow supporter, it's a decent view) to benefit from what otherwise would be an empty seat.

I’m not suggesting giving anyone a tenner. If you’ve paid for a season ticket and give up your seat for a genuine reason, you’re giving the club an opportunity to raise extra revenue. A free pass for Mariners TV doesn’t cost the club £10 in terms of actual cost.

The reason doesn't matter- the club isn't going to differentiate between those not turning up because of illness and those who've barely turned up to a game all season (there's a few near me). If the club gave you a free match pass they'd be saving you a tenner. Not sure what maths you're using

The only viable thing I can see working is if you pass your seat on for them to sell and they do a simar thing like asda rewards.. if your seat sells for £5 you get 50p into your cash pot, if it sells for adult price £20 you get £2 in your cash pot, if it doesn't sell you get nothing... you can spend your cash pot any time at Grimsby Town FC whether you save it up and spend it on Christmas gifts or put it towards renewing a ST etc

Money off next years season ticket is a good idea because it’s incentive to renew and get your cash again next season.

I bet we have more people on the turnstiles than Asda do on their checkouts, i begrudge having to scan my only weekly trolly of shopping.

I do like the principle of the idea though 👍

The reason doesn't matter- the club isn't going to differentiate between those not turning up because of illness and those who've barely turned up to a game all season (there's a few near me). If the club gave you a free match pass they'd be saving you a tenner. Not sure what maths you're using

Not really, if you have a season ticket, you've paid to watch that match. It costs the club nothing to allow you to stream something they're already streaming and they get the chance to sell that seat on. I think if you give up your seat, it's perfectly reasonable to get a match pass. Right now that can't work because of the blackout for most games, but I wouldn't be surprised to see this implemented during the trial blackout removal if it happens. I'd say you need to give more than 24 hours notice too otherwise the seat is difficult to sell.

To think you've already paid for the premium option and you can't have the budget one as a token of good will for allowing the club to make more money is a bit mean spirited. And the mariners tv season pass was £140 for 49 games (abroad), so it's only a couple of quid using that metric.

I suspect you said exactly the same at Christmas last season…if only football the reason we followed football was because it’s predictable…

I felt the exact same a year ago. Never been so happy to be proven wrong!
