At least we have two proper full backs today.

C'mon Town, let's have a win today, followed by an England win tonight.

Is Orsi regarded as a great player because of his lack of playing time? Always feels like players become better the less they play. In the 10 minutes I've seen him play all season nothing shouted out that he's the answer to our lack of goals.

What a man Dave Moore is, out there with his shorts on. I don't know what's in his blood but I need some of it to keep me warm.

He is a hard man we should enter him into that SAS  programme on the telly.

He is freezing inside just does not show it .

He’s not regarded as a great player but I think a great number of fans are puzzled why he has not been given any sort of chance to play more than the odd cameo when it can be extremely difficult to make an impression. If he’s never worth a start in any league games you have to question why PH made him one of our first summer!!!

Its cold today, let's hope the fans are wearing their Joy Division Oven Gloves.

Nice goal from a good McAtee cross, but he's fannied around too much on other occasions. Needs to keep it a bit more simple most of the time. I think Efete managed to clear a McAtee shot from a corner which looked like it was going to roll in!

They are all pretty athletic and are working hard to press us but haven't shown much guile as yet and we've defended well on the occasions they've attacked in numbers. Both Maher and Green are having decent games, which is good to see.

I think we're likely to create a few more chances in this game but need to take one or two of them as they've not been far off scoring on occasion.

Great first 15 minutes. Tranmere then took over for the next 20 - 25 minutes then we ended the half well.
I'm happy so far. I still feel McAtee isn't wasted but isn't showing his full potential being the loan striker. Its difficult because I like the midfield 3 but I'd like to see kiernan upto with mcatee behind

Tbh I'd prefer having McAtee out there trying things even if a lot of it doesn't work. We've missed having his energy and ability to create a chance from nothing when he's fully fit.

Efete's best game for ages.  He's running into the box one minute and mopping up at the back the next.  A lot of play down that flank.  Amos also doing well when it goes down the left.

Very big shout for a peno, ref seems to have bottled making that decision. He's let the game play but that was a big decision to let go. Looked like he was knocked down as he was taking a shot.

FT....Town 2-1 Tranmere...get in.

The Grimsby reaper may well strike again

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Deserved to win, even if they made it hard with that goal. 2nd  league win of the season at home and puts us in good stead for the Christmas season.

Good performance. Motm Efetee closely followed by Amos.
Only negative is I don't understand why Maher passed that back for their goal, the only time he had done that all game when it was easier to walk forward with the ball or.pass it to Amos. But, it's 3 points and apart from that Maher had a good game.

Got there in the end. Much improved performance over recent games, it at least felt like everybody understood what their role is supposed to be in the tactics. Energy levels dropped towards the end and could have used some subs a good 10 minutes before we got any but that seems to be a Hurst classic move at this point.

Tranmere kind of reminded me of how we usually play, had a lot of the ball and passed it around well but never looked threatening in the final third. Only came back into it thanks to a freak goal which put us under more pressure than we should have been at that point. We will need to be more clinical against better teams but this is a much needed confidence booster.

Great team performance and a welcome 3pts. Needlessly nervous at the end. Some great individual performances as well. Efete should now silence his critics, thought Green was immense doing what Green does best. Maher proving why he's in the team and Amos did well too.

I’m not in the category of (some) Liverpool fans, but these days, Town rank far above England. Not sure if it’s an age thing.

It was a bog standard back pass, Crocombe could have played keepiupie before passing it to anyone he had that much time.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

You're right it was but rewatch it. It's unnecessary. The player is half way between Maher and Crocombe before he even passes it. He had time to either control it and look up, move forward with it or pass to Amos... anyway, I don't want to moan too much as it was overall a very good team performance. Utfm

Maher (who played very well) didn't need to pass it back. Sheer madness for Crocombe to try and half-volley that clear when he could just have taken a touch then passed it out wide.

If we're going to make silly mistakes, let's make them in games which we win.

Some good play from us today but we should have put the game to bed long before the end of the game.

Ye he could have played it to others but he didn't, our keeper is still one of our players, he made the intercourse up.

Crocombe is one of eleven players and at that point was the easiest to play the ball  to.
I bet if you ask Crocombe he will say it was his fault.
