My father had prendisalone to fight a very rare form of pancreatitis called Weber-Christian Syndrome. The only thing I would say is that any side effects were better than the illness. Hope it sorts you out mate.

My late mother in law took it due to her COPD and it certainly seemed to darken her mood. She was a very poorly lady, however, due to multiple illnesses and I don't think much could have helped her. More anecdotally, the late father of a former colleague took it for many years (also COPD) without any apparent issues and he lived happily into his 90s!

If the Docs recommend it, certainly give it a try to hopefully alleviate your symptoms.

These days with all medication they print a leaflet with side effects, presumably so if they affect you you have been warned and hence cannot sue them. This one doe not read good:-

Possible side effects

Most people will not have problems, but some may get some.

If you get any of these serious side effects, stop taking the tablets. See a doctor at once:

You are sick and it contains blood or dark particles that look like coffee grounds
Pass blood in your stools or pass black tarry stools
Difficulty in breathing, asthma, swelling of the face, neck, tongue or throat, runny nose (severe allergic reactions) This could be erythema multiforme, Stevens -Johnson syndrome or Lyell’s syndrome
Allergic skin reactions such as itchy, red, raised rash (which can sometimes be severe and include peeling, blistering and lesions of the skin)
Unusual bleeding which may cause blood in the urine, coughing up blood or a stroke due to bleeding in the brain
If you get any of the following side effects see your pharmacist or doctor:

Common side effects

(may affect 1 to 10 people in 100)

Heartburn
Increased tendency for bleeding
Uncommon side effects

(may affect 1 to 100 people in 1000)

Runny nose, breathlessness
Hives
Rare side effects

(may affect 1 to 1000 people in 10,000)

Feeling sick, being sick, stomach irritation and pain
Difficulty in breathing, asthma attacks
Inflammation of blood vessels
Heavy periods
Unusual bruising, or infections such as sore throats – this may be a sign of very rare changes in the blood
Side effects with unknown frequency

(cannot be estimated from available data)

Increased bleeding time, e.g. when you have a nose bleed, bleeding gums (if bleeding is severe or lasts for a long time, talk to your doctor straight away)
Blood problems such as anaemia
Headache, feeling dizzy (vertigo)
Reduced hearing, ringing in the ears
Diarrhoea, ulcers and perforation in the stomach or gut
High levels of uric acid in the blood
Water retention
Kidney problems including kidney stones
Liver problems

It's for a daily 75mg of Aspirin.

I think we should be wary of the side effects of medication but we are all individuals and our bodies all react in different ways. The pharmaceutical companies are just frightened of being sued so protect their interests and don't worry about the other issue of scaring you with a list of side effects.

Very true DB. I agree you need medication but up to a point. The more natural you can keep something the better I feel. To often the medical profession throw pills at you without exploring other avenues . Take the example of mental health. They give you anti depressants when meditation or exercise eg walking outside can help far better. It's a temporary cover up that has side effects eg addiction to pills that doesn't heal the underlying causes. Or they give you medications to help  in differing degrees lung problems or liver problems. It helps cure one thing but then damages another eg negative effects to other organs .

Rick, the OP has Crohn's disease which is a horrible, debilitating condition and I'm sure he has tried everything he can with diet and so forth. That's the first step which is taken.

The idea that doctors just throw stuff at you to see if it will work may be true in some cases but not when you're dealing with specialist areas.

Agree to a point. From experience  though Maringer even specialist doctors get it wrong.Hence one size doesn't fit all. As DB said we react differently to medicines but the more your on the more chances are side effects from differing medicines will start affecting the body negatively.
