Scott Barber (aka the Barbour of Savile - allegedly) was subject to a football banning order for 3 years due to his behaviour at the Lincoln vs Grimsby match in 2018.

I have a big dislike of drugs eg cannabis, heroin etc . Not to mention the side effects that go with them. Wish some people could find more healthy avenues to engage in as opposed to going down that track.

Sad to hear that Abdul. Good physical and mental health is key to everything. Sincerely hope you can stop dabbling in occasional drug use in the future.

Look at some of the side effects .One cannabis joint equals as much as 20 cigarettes . Recreational drug use in its varying degrees is toxic to health.

As long as it’s contained (to private use) and not allowed in public areas then I have no issue either way. But, the stuff fu(king stinks. It’s what puts me off going to Amsterdam tbh and starting a window cleaning business

From what I saw on Saturday the police were as much to blame as this guy was. Two police were escorting him out relatively easily, then 10+ came charging in and turned a relatively tame incident into a full blown scrap.
Idiotic stuff from him to react, but he’s not paid to supposedly ‘keep the peace’ and I’m stunned the video of the copper laying into him hasn’t been more widely shared on social media.

To be fair cannabis use has helped people medically but its the way in which is used. Smoking it is a definite no for me for the many risks associated but I know cannabis oil is used for medical purposes which is far less damaging to health and helps people with certain illnesses.

Ive done cannabis now and again as a teenager Poojah and regretted it. Never again though .When were young and still moulding we all do silly things. As you've said in your brilliant signature "a smooth sea never made a skilled mariner" . Its why for me direct life experiences and often painful at the time are the best teacher if you learn from it and try to draw positives from them and then try to move on for the better.

It's fine in moderation eg a glass of wine with meals but I don't agree with binge drinking. The health risks associated with it are well documented.

I'm shocked in some ways but not surprised in others. I knew Scott very well when I lived in Grimsby. Last I knew he had a decent job (won't post it here) he'd been at for many years, really nice lad when I used to see him and play football with him (going back well over 10 years ago mind) wow.

To be fair to Floyd though and Iam a huge boxing fan was a very disciplined athlete and dedicated to his craft. Whilst fighting never touched alcohol to excess and his only guilty pleasure was an occasional Macdonald's. It's this sacrifice which allowed him to generate so much money in the fight game . For me deserves huge respect and admiration. One of my favourite boxers ever .

Yeah, maybe he learnt his lesson after the 4th conviction for domestic violence… …or maybe he hasn’t learnt his lesson and he just silences people with his massive stash of Franklin’s now.

I believe people can change . I've seen it in my life . If people get given the right guidance and apply effort on their part things do change for the better. Let's not forget Floyd Mayweather Jr very toxic past . Hence his dad was a drug dealer and used Floyd when a baby as a human shield from being shot to name some examples. I doubt you had that Ginny happened to you.

There is a link though. Very unstable , traumatic pasts in childhood can lead to long term scars and unstable thinking patterns. Mike Tyson was another famous boxer who had a horrible past which caused him long term problems later on. Think of it as growing up in a deep hole. You need right guidance and a strong will and deep persistent desire to want to change for the better. If you apply these principles things do turn for the best .

not what I saw from the other end. Looked like he didn't want to go and the 2 coppers were starting to 'struggle' and then all the others came running to assist them. After that it degenerated with other town fans joining in and ended up with BOTH sides throwing punches at each other

I guess Saturday was another classic example of the bizarre ways in which football is policed and so forth. You had an increased number of officers in the ground, clearly at the request of the club.
You had an inconsistent search policy again, this alone pisses people off; I didn’t get searched but the two blokes with me over 60 did, neither of which fit the made up profiles they take about.
The police frog marched someone in front of his own fans when they could’ve gone an alternative way, likely drawing little attention, and then, as usual we saw a police response of addressing violence with violence.
It was similar after the game.
I’m not condoning behaviour of people, nor saying there shouldn’t be a level of consequence but equally, the police seem too stubborn to change their approach, regardless of it not really working, not properly anyway.
I’m aware this isn’t all police forces but there is a theme across the football landscape. Not just in this country either, I’d advise folk watch the panorama about the champions league final…

I thought there was a lot of Police there on Saturday and I saw on a couple of occasions they could have stepped in to defuse situations rather than wait for them to flare up.
All that said if you’re stupid enough to take and walk around with a class A drug in your pocket you get what you deserve. No matter what people think about “own personal use” somewhere along the line someone has been put upon in the production of that drug or will be with the proceeds from its sale.

Have you met people who smoke a lot, particularly when younger? I met a friend of a friend who used to smoke weed constantly until he was about 30. He's now like a zombie that can't think, by all accounts he was a bright young lad. I'm sure in moderation it's not too bad, but people can't be trusted to do that.

Not bizarre Hagrid but life experience shapes you that way and things Ive seen directly happen to others .
Like a lot of people, I’ve had my fair share of shít to deal with in life, but I believe that you own your own experiences. Positive or negative, you have control over how you deal with them, and whether they manifest as positive or negative positive traits in your character and values. If you grow up in a violent or abusive household you can either choose to mirror that behaviour as an adult, or you can use your first-hand experience of physical and emotional pain as a force to do better for those close to you. I’m sure there are psychologists who would disagree with me, but I don’t accept “the same thing happened to me” as an excuse.

As noted though Poojah I genuinely think people can change for the better no matter how hard there life has been but the right guidance and effort on their part has to be forthcoming. Likewise the journey to recovery in various degrees will have dips and setbacks for anyone . I would add though that each case is different and some have to cope with far more trauma than others eg why there is suicides and suicide attempts.Tragic but you cant give up hope which suicide people did.

There are far far more people debilitated due to alcohol abuse in this country than there are people who smoke/vape cannabis. I smoked on probably 80% of my days from about 16 to 27 years old and I still smoke occasionally and I'm absolutely fine. It affects different people in different ways and I think if you have an unhealthy relationship with cannabis then the likelihood is that making it illegal won't do diddly squat as you'll find it and buy it somehow or your inability to deal with your addictions will just manifest itself in some other form. Limerick Mariner is right. It should be legalised, regulated and monetised. We're ignoring a huge boost to the economy by not doing so.

All smoking is bad though.I have a serious lung problem and have done all my life so this is something I feel strongly about. Occasional tobacco use still elevates risk of cancer by 5% -10%. Likewise those that smoke regularly have a 80% if not more chance of developing cancer. Try to steer clear of all tobacco use. Your health is everything.

Damn guess we better ban alcohol then on account of all the damage that does to alcoholics.

I think we need to ban biro pens. 99% of people that died last year in the uk, had come into contact with a pen within the previous 3 months !!
Scary isn’t it ???

| The wife was going away for a girly weekend. I jokingly remarked 'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football' 'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked She said 'Well you already know how to play football' |

The research by the drugs policy committee in the 2000's was conclusive - cannabis is the least bad drug including alcohol, David Nutt was asked to resign as a result - Gordon Brown was PM at the time. Not sure why he was so against the conclusion - he's more of a social conservative than most of the Labour Party. The mental health impacts of skunk on teenagers are clearly significant - also shown by the science. But the having all THC containing substances illegal as a result, is like making Guinness illegal because some underage teenagers drink bottles of Poteen every day. And by the way in moderation there are significant health benefits for a number of medical conditions. On this Canada, Holland and a number of US States have got it absolutely right and we are in the dark ages.

Yep, the whole David Nutt thing was a total joke. One of the most progressive things the Tories have ever done was appointing him as an advisor and then when he comes back with factual, scientific research he's sacked because it besmirches the reputation of the only two things they can tax. Fast forward a few years to 2015 and Colorado are giving every single tax paying citizen a rebate because they have legalised weed and have so much money that they don't know what to do with it. 2022 in the UK we appoint a Home Secretary who wants to re-classify it as Class A. Unbelievable. Glad she jumped ship like the rat she is yesterday.
