Yes agree completely. And great to see some of the potential Green has and why Hurst was so keen to get him signed

Thought complete opposite of Glennon to be honest. All of their best attacks came down his side which is becoming a bit of a theme.
Crocombe is brilliant though, crazy to think he signed as a number 2 in the national League.

I was thinking the same about Crocombe earlier, if reports were right he was about to sign for Boston.. joined us as back up and now I’m worried he’s out of contract end of the season and could easily find himself a League One side. Funny how football can work!

It said on BBC that crocombe was booked after our third for "excessive celebrations"! Just what did he do?

That low pinpoint kick Crocombe made out of his hands, out to the left wing second half was superb.

Even at the start of this season some were commenting how we would need to sign a keeper as Crocombe would be more of a number 2 now we're back in the league. Now we don't even have a GK on the bench, Crocombe is keeping us in games and getting booked after running the length of the pitch to celebrate a winner with the rest of the team.

Thought Green was very good. Won plenty in the air in front of Waterfall and Smith and regularly got a foot in to deal with some of Stockport’s “physicality” that PH referred to in his pre-game interview. Freed up Clifton in particular and Holohan some allowing them to get forward in the 1st half to get on the score sheet. A tad lucky tho not to get a 2nd yellow for kicking the ball away late on, especially with a card happy ref who gave us maybe 5 yellows? Stockport (players, coaches and fans) clearly weren’t happy with that or Town’s time wasting in general, with Challinor mouthing off after the whistle to get himself at yellow at the on field hand shake. Shame.

There where quite a few that wanted a keeper signing as he was only good enough as a back up keeper. Good job Hurst felt different and stuck with him.

said it before, can't see how crocombes never been a settled first choice anywhere he's class. Even last season never really seen any major flaw to his game that says why he was at national league level, like with mckeown as much as I loved him his achilles heel was always controlling a box though I still think at his best he could've done a job at a higher level. Guess there's only 92 spots for keepers in the league and they don't often get subbed so some really good ones can never get the opportunities

Keepers often breakthrough a bit later on and their peak is often later than outfield players. He's probably had a bit of a cloud hanging over him for having a slash during a game. I've said it before but he was set to be Boston's No1 last season but decided to come here as second choice. Twice as much money probably helped but less than 18 months later, he's an undisputed first choice for a team in the top half of League 2. I can't comment on what his form was like at other clubs but he has a good, organised defence in front of him and that helps massively.

Because he is a goalie who commands his box and he can catch a cross in the his box, which gives confidence to the players in front of him.

It works two ways, the keeper needs confidence in his defence and the defence needs confidence in their keeper. Good distribution is key from a keeper now, he mixes it up well and that ball up to Taylor against Wrexham in the play-offs was absolutely brilliant.

You just feel confident with Crocombe cause he commands the box so well. The defence trust him too. Even at his best I would worry when a cross went in towards McKeown but I love it when it’s knocked in aimlessly now because I know 90% of the time Crocombe will get it.

No doubt crocombe is playing sensationally well in terms of claiming almost everything in the 6 yard box and a he'll of a lot in the penalty area. I have said it before and I will defo say it now - when they got the auto 1 year extensions for appearing a certain no of times I wish crocombe had got the 2 year deal, and I wish efette had got merely whatever was contractually required as I don't think he is up to it.
I think crocombe will be a league 1 keeper next year - let's hope its with us! At the very least we need to get him signed up to anextension.

The owners and Hurst made a big deal about Croudson coming back, perhaps that’s contributed to Crocombe being as good as he is.
Macca was great and saved us many a time, was part of a side that went up and did the club a great service but the time was right when he was dropped and in truth, Crocombe is a million miles ahead of Macca.
Glennon didn’t put a foot wrong yesterday, even though their goal came down that left hand side, the ball wasn’t cleared sufficiently which kept the attack going.

Max is clearly an upgrade on Macca, who by the way saved us loads and loads of points during his Town career which shouldn’t be forgotten.
As well as being a good keeper technically his self confidence & concentration that he displays has a positive impact on everyone around him.
I think people need to be sensible re Glennon as he’s still in the developing stage and it won’t always work well but he will no doubt be right up there with the best left backs we’ve had in recent years once he’s got more miles under his belt. His goal against Crawley & his ball to Hunt for the 3rd yesterday illustrates the added extra he brings too.

Maybe they are looking at the fumble for Stockport's goal? Max was joint with Harry for MotM for me.

Or the recognition that a player who has gone on to play in the premiership and even for England was really good for us (albeit briefly).

Mildnehall was class in that season for us, no doubt. He arguably had a better defence in front of him. I'd have to go back and watch all the highlights from that season to make a true comparison but it feels like Crocombe has been up at those levels so far this season, making 2 great saves yesterday and claiming virtually everything- and for that save in the play off final, he goes just ahead for me.

Credit to Holohan and Clifton for running into the box but I think their keeper could have done better with our first two goals than Max could have done for theirs.

For ages we’d struggled to get numbers in the box but this season it has been great to see players making runs. I also liked that the first 2 goals yesterday initially came from strong running with the ball by Clifton & Kiernan, the first goal was especially good considering H robbed their player of possession, that’s what good CM’s do isn’t it?

In my opinion McKeown was at his peak here when Croudson was goalkeeping coach.
Crocombe, whilst excellent last season has gone from strength to strength this campaign. Interestingly since Croudson returned.
I don't think we can over estimate just how much of a coup it was bringing Croudson back into the fold and how we're really building a quality backroom set-up.

Isn't Crocombe out of contract at the end of the season?
If so, we should be looking to tie him down to a 2 year deal in January.

I feel like it's become a bit of a trend to knock McKeown, albeit gently, possibly because of the way his last year with us played out.
He won multiple POTY awards and had some fantastic seasons for us — let's remember him for those, and not for that shitty season under Holloway when we got relegated, or when he got dropped under Hurst II.
Max Crocombe's career path has been interesting to say the least. He's nearly 30 (just a couple of years younger than McKeown) but it seems his trajectory is the opposite.
Looking at his Wiki page, he's been back up and loaned out to non-league clubs almost his entire career. Never really had anywhere to call home.
Already he's played more games for us than any other club.
I'm delighted for him. When you look at his history, it does prove that Hurst sees more than just the stats, because you possibly wouldn't have signed him based on those.
And who doesn't love a keeper that sprints the length of the pitch to join in with the celebrations?!
I don't doubt his ability. I guess the one thing he hasn't had yet is one of those Coyne-QPR displays when he makes eight or nine saves under pressure and walks away with a 10 from the Telegraph.
Croudson has definitely made a big difference. McKeown's career plateaued after he left, Max's is picking up.
He's got another 8-10 years left in him too. Hopefully he plays them all for us and we get back-to-back keeper testimonials as we rise into the Championship!

I don't see it that anyone's having a dig at McKeown. He was a fine player for us, for many years. Unfortunately his last full season was us was by far his worst and it was painfully sad to see him lifting the trophy at the London Stadium completely on the fringes of the squad. There's a huge part of me (and I'm sure of him too) that wishes he'd have taken that offer to play up in Scotland when he had the opportunity. Then we wouldn't have seen a modern-day legend tarred with the brush of excrement that came in that ill-fated season.
But it's evolution. It doesn't have to be done with a slight to acknowledge that we've kicked on a level in the last 18 months and McKeown wasn't part of that progression.
I adored Liam Hearn when he was here. He was the first player to get me off my seat since Michael Reddy, a player that you expected something to happen with. But ultimately he wasn't part of anything significant here. After that incredible goal scoring season for us, we kicked on another level, then another...and so on. But I still look back fondly at him.
