Obviously pre-empted the EFL meeting to discuss doing just that.

Clubs have to do whatever they can to save money at this level don't blame them at all

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

I once said Gazza's IQ was less than his shirt number and he asked me: What's an IQ? - George Best

I live an hour and a half away. My kids have classes / training on a Saturday morning and I can’t set off until just after 12:00.

I bought a season ticket, as I have done for the last 20 years, on the basis of games kicking off at 3pm. Of course I can make an exception the odd week, but if it’s routine through the winter my ST would be effectively null and void.

I won’t be the only one in this position. I think Town, with a large exile following, would need to think long and hard before following suit.

Our floodlights are all LED bulbs too. They don't actually cost that much to run.

It would be interesting to know what it costs to power the floodlights, and therefore what the savings are.

It’s in mid October, doubt they’d even need the floodlights then though.

You would think with all the roof space the club would be looking into the possibility of solar power and potential battery storage for all the grounds electrical needs

Whilst there’s no doubt that energy bills are gonna cripple everyone, has anyone looked in to the cost of running floodlights?

Fans at our level are a valuable income stream, if this is just a knee jerk reaction then it could back fire. Save a small amount on one hand but lost on the other…

We've got LED lights now, haven't we? Wouldn't cost much to run, in the grand scheme of things. Probably less than a tenth of the electricity of their predecessors. How many clubs have older incandescent bulbs in their floodlights these days?

Installation of solar panels and energy storage would cost a lot of money. Wouldn't generate much power at all during the winter months when the usage is highest so would take many years to pay itself back. Better to wait a few years down the line when, hopefully, panels and storage should be cheaper.

Stick a wind turbine in the centre spot. Could add a bit of crazy golfness to the game and big hoofs down the middle would have 50/50 chance of getting past the halfway line

I think we upped the lux level when we changed them and they will still cost a fair bit to run, I would guess that each corner is about 300-400W.

Still cheaper than their halogen equivalents mind.

They'll cost a fraction of the amount used in the hospitality areas. Running fryers and ovens and heating will use loads more energy than the floodlights.

At least the PA system is energy efficient. Or I assume it is because you can never hear what they are saying.

I have the solution: 10 exercise bikes around each pylon connected to a dynamo which runs the lights for matches, pedalled by substitutes, the youth and reserves and anyone else that wants to get a bit fitter!?

Sh*t, I'm genius..

'I walked in the dressing room. The window was open and I thought that a sea fret had got in. Then I saw smoke billowing from a pipe in the corner of the room...it was my centre-forward. He looked seven stone wet through. He went on to score thirty-odd goals that season.' Lawrie McMenemy on encountering the legend that was Matt Tees.

Unfortunately for you this was an idea already in the pipeline from the previous regime.., harking back to JFs days of having a dynamo on his Raleigh Grifter he tabled this idea at the same time as launching the " be mighty Mariner opportunity" initiative, he was thinking he could set up a spinning class with a bank of second hand bikes in each corner, wired to the floodlights with a length of 2 core cable found in Peter Furneaux's old store under the mainstand, charge individuals £15 for a 90min spinning class led by Dave Smith and market it as an opportunity to "power the park".
