Throw a kebab, couple of gram of gak in to corner and you’ll keep Cook quiet when we play Bradford. That said, not sure he’s had a decent game against us…

So far this season we seem be the polar opposite of last season. We were very good at home last season, scoring a lot of goals, at least 10 of which were outstanding,
We had McAtee who was a catalyst for most good things. We were not so good away from home. We went top of the league of points.
Then McAtee was out of the teams, along with another key player. We then went on a long run of very poor results. Too dependent on one key player.
This season we are successful without McAtee. And at a higher level. Better as a team. Not won a home game yet but outstanding away from home. Few outstanding goals but more resilient and stronger in defence, more consistent and much harder to beat. Finding ways to win away from home.
The rest of the season looks very promising. No pressure on the team or manager.

It has to be noted that most of the summer signings have hardly featured for one reason or another. Khan hasn't played a minute, Maher and Orsi have one or two brief appearances, and Green, PH's top target, hasn't really settled in yet and is now injured. Morris hit the ground running but is now injured also, while Wearne has been in and out of the side.
We haven't really got any flow about us yet and it has to be said that we are a tough watch at the moment.
Myself and my brother have several "discussions" on what we have seen so far. He is bemoaning a lack of excitement at home games and thinks PH is being too pragmatic by picking the same side for home and away games, saying that it's ok being compact and conservative away from home, but we need to be more expansive and attacking at home. He says we should be playing JMD more in home games, despite his seeming lack of tracking back that Kiernan brings.
I'm more philosophical on what I've seen and it's hard to argue given our league position, but I can see where he is coming from. Winning away and being average at home doesn't best please the fans and he argues that he has hardly got out of his seat with excitement during home games and that gaining points from being defensively good is ok, but winning with more attacking flair and being a bit more risky is better. Suppose he would rather we win 3-2 than 1-0, but PH won't be too displeased I imagine as we are picking up wins and draws.
I think (hope) that there is more to come from us yet when all the new signings are getting match fit and we start to gel more as a side. Not many of the new lads have made a big impression, but then they haven't really had a chance to shine just yet. Last season we started well, playing good football, then hit a slump and PH had to reinvent the side with new signings. This season we have started well and if we hit a dodgy patch, the new signings are already there, waiting in the wings.

Agree we need to try something different at home. Both Swindon and Carlisle have only lost one so winning either game doesn’t looke easy. I can’t see PH risking starting JMD who appears to only heading one way so not clear what the answer is.

I expect a good number of the fringe players will be included on Tuesday night, so it's up to them to put in eye catching performances.

These exchanges remind me of our Doncaster home defeat in 2017.
