I get the impression from what has been said that Khan is likely to be out for a while longer yet. I seem to remember Hurst saying he had 'damaged' his calf, rather than simply injured which would indicate some sort of a tear to the muscle. Could mean anything up to a few months out if it's a bad one.

Maher was training yesterday apparently, light session on the training ground.

Perhaps it's time to either cancel the Cleethorpes opener or play it at BP and give the proceeds to Clee. Each year we seem to have a catalogue of injuries resulting from this game, doubtless partly due to the rock hard ground without the facility to soften up the surface in preparation.

Forest fans seem quite happy to come back if we are looking for preseason opposition...

Spoke with Otis before the game yesterday, back in training in a couple of weeks, enjoying his time cannot wait to pull on a town shirt.

Given we’re on injured players, does anyone have any idea when, or even if, we’ll see Scanz again?

Scanz has been posting videos of him training back in the gym again so hopefully that's a positive sign.

As for Khan and Maher, wouldn't shock me if they get a run out against Derby next week.

Or bring it back a week or two and not have a game so early in pre season. If pre season is 6 weeks long (I haven't a clue I'm giving an example) I'd do something like :
Week 1 + 2 no game
Week 3 one game
Week 4+5 two games (1 midweek)
Week 6 one game
This Is aimed at first team players, you'd obviously have extra games (ie Brigg or Barton) which is filled with mainly youth.

If we'd done it much later this year, it would have been after the Orient match

I think we have to factor in a shorter pre season and for some players I’d imagine they’ve not worked that hard in pre season before. Then couple that with players desperately wanting to play so busting a gut and I guess some get injured.

The pitch at Clee Town was awful and can’t have been easy to play on but let’s face it, the weather won’t have helped this year.

I’m not sure I’d move the game away from there but I do understand that some could see that as a solution.

Was you there ? No player busted a gut , it was boiling and all went through the motions, as you do on first preseason.

No need to even think of moving the game , as who knows what playing conditions would be a next year.

It’s a massive revenue earner for a great little club.
