Me and the legend telling me about the good old times during his bad times. While we are on a upward trend let’s remember the legends of the past.. he says he will love the mariners till the day that he dies. He will keep fighting against dementia and he’s battered me at a few games of pool but Kevin Keegan never knew what hit him

Lovely bloke Dave, my old man (Burnley fan ha!) used to work with him on the Immingham rigs in the 90’s, he sorted our tickets out for all my family for the Northampton game in 98 plus a load of goodies, even sent me some autographs and other bits of memorabilia. Only met him once but such a top guy. I wish him all the best.

Dave only lives a few streets away from me, see him regularly down the prom and we sometimes speak.

Lovely man, it's amazing how many people acknowledge him when he's out.

Ironically I never saw him play, just before my time as a Town fan.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

A wonderful guy.

A friend and I were in the Notts a few years ago after a Town night match; and he asked Dave why Dave Booth left?

Dave Boylen said, "Thereby hangs a tale;" and launched into a fascinating 15 minute talk about everything from the period.

When he finished without really answering the question, my friend asked him again, "Why did Dave Booth leave then?" and Dave Boylen replied, "Nobody actually knows."

Supporting Town for 65 years.

Only saw Dave at the end of his career but remember a match against Preston when Nobby Styles, also at the end of his career, kicked Boylen all over the pitch.
One of the dirtiest matches I’ve seen but that was football in the 70s.

Spoke to Bobby Ross's daughter the other day and Dave was at his funeral. Sounds like there was a good turnout of players and wives and children from that era, including Matt's wife. There still seems to be a strong community between the families still - lovely to hear that...

It was different in those days, players tended not to come and go on one or two year contracts like they do now. When you signed a player they often stayed for years and years. So I guess many lasting relationships were formed.
