So we’re persevering with face to face sales, even though the majority would choose to use online?

Adults £10?! That’s very cheap, relatively speaking.

Orient are doing an opening day half price ticket offer and have extended it to away fans, which is good of them.

Don’t league rules mean they have to?

It’s cheap, which helps given the price of fuel etc…

It is strange that we can't move to predominantly online sales, with maybe 1 or 200 tickets held back for the ticket office.

It's moving in the right direction though, with 500 now being reserved for online.

Seems a bit odd to only have 500 online, when everyone can access the ticket website (even though some might choose not to), with 750 being available in the ticket office only (which isn't an option for a lot of fans). Not sure why they've gone with that option if I'm honest.

The vast majority should be sold online. Fully mad in 2022 the club are giving priority to anyone capable of queueing up outside the ticket office on a work day.

This is has to change. They’ve got so much right but this needs to change ASAP. If they’re desperate to sell face ti face then 100 max. No more.

I know people who literally live in Blundell Ave that aren’t able to go and queue up.

Agree. Makes no sense whatsoever. The ticket office is one of the areas of the club that still needs improving/work. They’ve made strides in the last two years since the new owners came in but still a way to go to make them operate in the 21st century.

We managed to shift more than 13,000 tickets online ONLY a month back. All this will do is force at least 750 people to be queuing up in the sun first thing Monday and put plenty of noses out of joint.

If they insist on ticket office sales they should......

Have a smaller number ot ticket than on sale on line
Limit sales to a max of four ticket per person (except were accounts are linked)
Charge a fee at least the same as online sales.

The best way forward is a points system, so if there are only 1,000 tickets available they make them available to the 1,000 highest points fans first, then if there are any left 24 hrs later offer them to the next highest point fans, and so on. Then as long as you have the points you can buy online. over the phone or in the ticket office.

Based on previous sales of tickets through the ticket office it will take 2 to 3 hours to clear the queue on Monday morning . Have they not seen the red warning . Asking the largely older group of fans to queue in the sun on Monday is madness if not dangerous.Whoever took that decision needs to be considering their position.

As I said, if they insist on selling face to face, for games like this with limited tickets and maximum interest it should be 1 for 1, no more than 100 over the counter, one each. No fornicator with 10 season tickets, just one person, one ticket.

The rest, online, first come first served until they’ve gone.

Until they’ve figured a better way which probably relates to points etc that’s the only logical and fair way to do it…

Clever thinking from the club if you ask me. The ensuing half-mile long queue in those apocalyptically warm conditions will see off our more elderly and ginger season ticket holders, thus easing demand for future fixtures.

They don’t miss a trick, this lot.

100% need a reward system and back date points earned from last season, seems very unfair for those who made the effort last season “where we’re you when we was 💩”

I think the question needs asking next time they have an interview.

Whether you live in town or not, people are likely to be working Monday morning and buying habits have changed significantly in recent years. If I want to go to Orient, I should join an online queue like everyone else who meets the criteria.

Online sales didn't stop 13,000 people getting tickets and prioritising face to face doesn't do exiles any favours whatsoever. Exile or local, you should not have to join a long queue to buy tickets.

Limit face to face sales to a fraction of our tickets and only for those who the club don't have online details for.

The issue with the points system is that whilst it sounds a great idea it potentially creates a never achievable level for most.
If for instance I was in the top 1250 points earners I get a ticket for Orient, by doing so I get more points for getting a ticket therefore guaranteeing I stay at the top end of the points system . For anyone outside of the top 1000 -1250 it would be difficult to catch up on anyone, creating an elite group of people who could almost become ticket touts.
If I couldn't make a high demand game for any reason I could still buy the ticket , guarantee my points build up and protect my position and then sell it to a mate at face value.

No system will ever be perfect when demand outstrips supply but selling a minority of tickets on the most widely available platform seems a little odd.

Now says "not available on line" which would suggest the 500 have gone already, not surprising really.

flipping hell this venuetoolbox website is a load of shite. Can't handle demand for 500 tickets without falling on it's bottom. The club really need to sort out prioritising sales through a loyalty scheme as I can't handle this ordeal every time I want to buy tickets for an away game.

Got like straight away…I’ve found having 2/3 browsers open, the countdown thing appears and then I’ve gotten straight through on a different one without it every time…

Keep trying, a friend of mine clicked too many times and had 13 in their basket only needing 2…

And apparently the tickets are only available for collection from the ticket office? This on top of the 500 tickets online limit is really disappointing from an exile's point of view, feels a bit like the club aren't taking us into account if I'm honest

Think I’ve managed to get a couple and recorded delivery was an option. Just waiting for email confirmation. But what a flipping nightmare that was. Website barely worked! We can’t have this all season. The club really needs to sort out the ticket office management.

You’ll never get an email. I never got one for any game last year, just screenshotted everything and then just collected or called the ticket office asap…

Venue box is shite, they really need to look at that ASAP.

I’ve managed to get two adults and a child. I have two accounts linked to mine. Was slow but got sorted eventually.

And apparently the tickets are only available for collection from the ticket office? This on top of the 500 tickets online limit is really disappointing from an exile's point of view, feels a bit like the club aren't taking us into account if I'm honest

I think I ticked the collection box by mistake. Surely online means they have to offer delivery? Might have to drive over from Sheffield for the Lincoln game or relative collect and post!

The experience of buying tickets from GTFC.....

......When the frustration builds and I think I might explode - I take a deep breath. I want to shout, have a tantrum and beat my hands on the ground like a toddler. I want to vent, let it out, but I don't want to say words I don't mean, be hurtful. It's just so easy to be cruel in that moment and then the damage is done. So many times I've wanted to unsay things, take it back. I'm learning how to deal with it, but slowly.

Then....

....a feeling of great happiness, triumph and joy.

I got tickets.

Think I’ve managed to get a couple and recorded delivery was an option. Just waiting for email confirmation. But what a flipping nightmare that was. Website barely worked! We can’t have this all season. The club really needs to sort out the ticket office management.

I clicked on delivery, but clearly the server was under so much demand it didn't register it and the amount didn't update to include postage when I clicked through to the checkout. Didn't want to urine about going back trying to correct it when each page was taking about 90 seconds to load so i'm going to have to ring up the ticket office later this week to sort out getting them posted to me. Yet another reason why venuetoolbox is not fit for purpose!

I did mine on my phone and apart from waiting 30-45 seconds for each page to load I managed to get a ticket for myself, I can see the venue toolbox system isn't fit for purpose and I hope this is something the club are looking at improving, can a new system just be implemented mid season though?

You’ll never get an email. I never got one for any game last year, just screenshotted everything and then just collected or called the ticket office asap…

Venue box is shite, they really need to look at that ASAP.

I got an email receipt from our ticket office. I have to show it on collection which means I have to email it to anyone who collects on my behalf. What a rigmarole.

It’s hardly surprising that many clubs decide to use the likes of ticketmaster so that any faults are blamed elsewhere.

Am sure that this is an area being addressed by the club

Hats off to Orient for the ticket price, very welcome in this financial climate. Might be a nice gesture to extend that ticket price to their fans when they visit Blundell Park.

Easy peasy, in and out less than 5 minutes.
Only complaint when I buy stuff is the email never arrives so I'm unsure if the order has been processed. Ordered a t-shirt for my grandson last Tuesday, birthday is tomorrow. By Friday no confirmation so I'm starting to worry but the shirt arrives.
Sure they'll get it all sorted at some point

Great gesture but utterly bonkers for a guaranteed sell out - have a friend who supports Orient and he said their fans think that - edit - that's not quite what it suggests on their Forum more moaning about eroding value of a ST. Anyway it will be a full house now...

I can't see us reciprocating - game is a Saturday (Valentines Day) if we are doing anything like OK will also be near sell-out, and we won't reduce price just for their fans.

Whilst I’m a tad surprised, expense, strikes, fuel costs and the fact a lot of folk will be on holiday is probably gonna help some folk out getting a ticket.

I know 5 who would’ve gone but aren’t because of holidays…

Conversely I’m not missing this one for the world because I’m away for a good chunk of August, meaning I miss our first three home games (four if you include the cup game). Pretty gutted in hindsight but the holiday was booked over a year ago and telling the kids they’re not going to Disney World because daddy’s off to the football isn’t really a message I fancy delivering.

I’ve done Disney World in August before - get ready to sweat your nads off for 14 days, it’s far too oppressive for me, but the kids were so into the whole thing they never complained once about the heat.

Mind you, one day at Disney it rained like I have never, ever seen it before in my life. It belted it down for about an hour, it was biblical. Taking cover was making us late for a restaurant booking, so I did the best dad thing and ran like mad to the restaurant to inform them we’d be late. I was dripping from head to toe, it looked like I’d had a bath fully clothed. I prepared to run back to the family and the bloody rain had stopped and the sun was out again, just like that!

Every dollar bill in my wallet was wet through, and I sat eating a burger at this classic move restaurant completely sodden, shivering like mad.

The weather there is insane.

Oh yeah, and the reason for this story was…..someone came to the table and said “Up The Mariners” due to my (very wet) shirt!

Heroic good guys with all the courageous heart in the world and horribly dislikeable brutish cartoon villains using any nefarious means necessary to get what they want while you were soaked in a biblical downpour? Sounds very much like Bromley away last season.

Of all the NL teams, I’d imagine Bromley are the one we’ll miss the least. And I’m sure their manager, who admitted he hates us, must be ecstatic that we went up!

Anyway, looking forward to Orient more than that!

We’ve done Disney multiple times and then their hotels scattered around the world; Hawaii, Anaheim etc…the heat is something else but worth every minute.

Walked up to the bar in Hawaii, bloke takes my order and goes ‘you from grimsby?’ Naturally I answer, he then tells me he worked in meggies for years and was from just outside scunny…

Yeah hadn’t looked at it like that, so fair comment. I just liked what a few championship clubs were doing with agreed reduced prices for away fans.

First time to Disney, many years ago, walked out of the airport and whoosh, the blooming heat and humidity just hits you like opening your oven door, but yes in august somewhere in Orlando gets an afternoon downpour, but 10 minutes later everything is dry.

Lucky enough to have been 10+ times now and the weather doesn't get any easier, what you described pretty much happens every day in there humid summer season. Mental for us but just a part of everyday life for them!

Been there a few times and once at the beginning of August, probably in the high 80s and low 90s every day and magnificent thunder storms in the evening.

I wonder what people in other hot countries think of us in an absolute panic for a couple of days of hot weather?

Yeah hadn’t looked at it like that, so fair comment. I just liked what a few championship clubs were doing with agreed reduced prices for away fans.

Plus they are London based, they don't need any more money, if they get hard up they can just take a chunk out one of the those gold pavements and cash it in.

100% need a reward system and back date points earned from last season, seems very unfair for those who made the effort last season “where we’re you when we was 💩”

Shouldn't we welcome those supporters with open arms? Show them that their support is just as valid as someone that has been for the last 30 years?

If it is half as suggested, I would be quite disappointed. Honestly thought we'd be sold out by tomorrow evening.

Momentum or not, costs, not long since season finished and ultimately they time for families to go away…some stil regard a trip to London a lengthy away day too…

If you remember, it wasn’t the scramble we all thought it’d be for Bromley…

I agree completely, I just thought since we’ve got 2000 new season ticket holders on board, a lot of those might have been tempted to buy them.

I can’t remember fully to be honest, I got my ticket, and seem to remember over 800 town fans at least on what was some of the worst weather I have ever seen!

Pretty sure we’ll sell out eventually. However, must say, I thought they’d be gone by 11am. Maybe cost of living crisis starting to bite, something of a traipse to Orient, clashes with the time a lot of families will be away after schools have broken up, lots of non STH don’t go to away games. All likely contributing factors

There’s also the assumption that all season ticket holders go away too…many probably would had it been nearer to home. As I said, I know folk from grimsby who do go away but rarely venture far and they’re in that group that still regard London as a long way away…

I think it’s likely to be a combination of things, ordinarily, I’d  be in holiday but family circumstances have meant we’re not.  I know a few who are who would definitely have gone. I do wonder if the fact only a small amount were available online has slowed the sales down, had they all been online I suspect we’d have possibly sold more, if not all…

... and I'm one of them!

When we booked our week in Spain, it looked very much like we would be a National League club next season and therefore we thought we'd booked it 'out of season'. One downside of going up means that I'm away for the opener... but I'd suggest that the ups slightly outweigh that!

Probably because it’s almost impossible to get there & back from GY/Clee via public transport. Every train from London to Doncaster is sold out and the closest you can practically get back is Lincoln and then you’ve got a drive from there.

If they make 1878 members sales and maybe even General, they’ll easily go cos the London contingent remains big. Can’t imagine there are too many left.

I went to lots of away games last year and would of liked to of gone to Orient. However fuel prices and the cost of living IL be going to fewer away games this season unfortunately.

Anyone have any idea how many we have actually sold?? Genuinely thought they would have sold out yesterday. We had a problem booking tickets online yesterday, phoned today to sort it and ended up with tickets. We assumed they had sold out.

Probably because the clowns were advertising it on here weeks before tickets actually went on sale, couldn't spell Orient in their post title properly, and haven't posted anything about it since people actually started buying tickets to the match. If they sorted their marketing out they might generate a bit more interest.

Suspect people won't book until they know they have tickets - might fill up now.

Also I think many will make Rochdale there first away trip of the season. Whilst tickets for Orient are half price its still a wedge to get down there, and, importantly, the ale will be alot cheaper in 'Dale...

Booked my train up to Rochdale this week so I'm hoping we still get the whole side stand so that I'll definitely get a ticket. Pretty sure that was what they were giving to away fans last season.

I'm thinking of just booking to sit with the Orient fans.  East Stand upper Section D so at least close to the Town fans.  I'm expecting all the Town allocation will sell out.

Anyone else thinking of doing that?

Doesn't seem that way currently. No word from the club on sales seems to infer a reasonable availability remains.

Yes but there are still plenty left so I'd advise waiting. Sounds like they will reach general sale - I should be able to get mine with 1878 / Trust.

Still expect we'll sell out - London Mariners will take up the slack at a tenner a pop...

Just got my ticket online from the Orient website.
£9, sat in the south stand, behind the goal nearest to the away end, if you can’t get a ticket for the away section next best thing is close by hearing the Town fans.. bring on the 30th

Given the heat I'm thinking either East Stand at the back (away from the sun) or West stand.....  Im really looking forward to this.  Leyton are a proper football club - great ground - and anyone who supports a team like that rather than West 'Aaaaam or any of the other big London clubs gets my respect.

Why are town fans buying in the home end when it hasn’t sold out and will likely make it to general sale?

From a personal point of view, sometimes it’s fun to be in the ground and watch and listen to the Town away support, done it a few times at grounds last season, I’d recommend it, you can appreciate how good the Town away support is

As an exile with 1878 Club and Trust membership, I still can't seem to buy a ticket using the online system?
The front page of the ticket page says :
"Tickets are currently only available for season ticket holders on a one-for-one basis."

But if you're not logged in, the next page says:
"Tickets are currently on sale to season ticket holders and 1878 Club members only on a one-for-one basis."

Login in and the "Away online" box is greyed out and not for sale.
Can't find any indicator of 1878 or Trust membership on my account page, despite the 1878 being purchased through the ticket site.

All seems a bit flakey and unfinished.

Just got my ticket online from the Orient website.
£9, sat in the south stand, behind the goal nearest to the away end, if you can’t get a ticket for the away section next best thing is close by hearing the Town fans.. bring on the 30th

I had mine come through yesterday (accompanied by a bus lane violation notice - whoohoo!). Should probably let the wife know I’m going at some point.

I can't buy on the Grimsby website as well - not working.  I'm over in France until the day of the game, so  I've ended up getting tickets in with the Orient fans, plus a local friend of mine who is a genuine Orient fan.  We're in the West stand (facing away from the sun!!).  I look forward actually to hearing the town fans in full voice from the opposite side.

Have to say, I do like Orient as a club  - so much easier around there to support other bigger teams, so respect to them for getting decent support.  Great old-school ground as well.

It's pretty easy to walk and by the time you've waited for an Uber, and they've been round the houses getting you out of Hackney Wick and into Leyton, you might as well have walked.

When I lived in Hackney Wick I cycled it in about 10 minutes, but if you're at the Crate Brewery/Queen's yard, just walk through the Olympic Park towards the Velodrome, then when you get there there's a bridge over the road that drops you into Leyton by the Hockey Centre on a road called "Eastway" which leads pretty much right up to the ground.  Aim for the Velodrame/Velo Park and it's easy and obvious from there.

It's a 50 min walk from No.90 Bar. (1.92 miles). That's crossing the R.Lea by the Eastway. Other routes through the Parkland look like Hampton Court Maze!   I love walking but it looks pretty tedious. Just imagine if you dropped your wallet on the way and had to retrace your steps to find it.

New song for Orient….

We went to County,
We scored right at the end,
We went to Wrexham,
And did the same again
And then in London,
We scored from a long throw,
It fell to Jordan…

No danger of that happening, I dropped the fúcker the day before the playoff final somewhere in Glasshoughton and that’s the last I’ve seen of it.

Cheers gents. We’ll see what happens after I’ve had 10 pints. Might be a rickshaw job.

Yes, if you are a brisk walker, don't stop and navigate correctly. Top of the average walking range is 4 mph so you are potentially doing it in 25 min..... if you are not planning on ten pints!

You wait, someone will be on here next Saturday bragging they did it in 15 min!

Not sure then, just that online there is no longer a purchase option. If what you've been told is correct, my only guess would be that seen as the ticket office is closed for the weekend, maybe they've suspended online sales for the weekend too, to allow some for general on Monday?

I rang yesterday to request mine to be posted. I had failed to tick the delivery option in my rush to buy last  Monday. Had to pay £2.50 postage, which is fine. Young voice not heard before to add to several new faces when I picked up my ST a week ago. Ticket office hiring to meet extra demand.

Edit:-

Arrived an hour ago. Knock on door and signed for postage. Thanks newbie staff!

Managed to get through at 16-45 paid the postage and was informed  3-5 working days for delivery   TBH, not good enough really. We need options to solve  basic problems with the sale away tickets. ie alternative phone ext  and no answer when ringing the club ?  Frustrating

The away end is NOT sold out. I just called and bought a further two tickets without any issue. You can now buy as many as you need. I've got no idea how many are left, though.

What’s more they’ve gone off sale online - which is why I assumed they were sold out. I need two more but they might not arrive in time if I now try and buy over the phone tomorrow.

I agree this needs to be sorted. For a start, 3 days for STH only is too long unless ther home club can get tickets out earlier. 2 days STH, one day 1878, 1 day Trust seems better because that means general sale starts on a Friday. That gives people more time to make travel arrangements.
But also this going off and back on sale online shouldn’t be happening.

I had that issue with the phones last week. Wanted to move my season tickets and called for over two hours and got no answer or that error message. Lots of great stuff with the club but as an exile it’s frustrating not to be able to get through. When I finally got an answer the phone signal went and the call cut out. 🤬 I didn’t get to move my seats.

I'm sure we all appreciate that it is never possible to answer every single phone call what comes in, especially if you are dealing with customers in person and the phone starts ringing, you can't just then tell that customer to wait a minute whilst you run off to answer the phone.

What could be implemented though if not already in place is a VM/answer machine facility which obviously allows callers to leave their name number and message, they can they be called back to sort out the query.

The whole communication in regards to ticketing has been pretty poor by the club, there have been few if any updates, the online buying option for non season ticket holders has been sketchy to say the least and the confusion whether or not tickets were still available for many of us exiles has been pretty needless. Having to ring up numerous times in these days of technological advancement because the website shows no availability but the rumour mill says there are still tickets is crazy. Apparently there may be tickets left this morning although it’s been reported on this thread that they were already sold out on a few occasions(I know this is nothing to do with the club but again a little communication goes a long way).
This was a fixture we have been able to plan for for a few weeks. Are we going to have this for every away game or is there a plan to improve this?
We seem to have adopted a system which is the worst of all worlds, a strange hybrid that is neither an online system nor a phone system with no clue which option would be available at any given time.
Should I be writing this to the club?  Perhaps but they must know that they are making a pig’s ear out of this.

Yeah, it's not just during busy times too. I had a problem with my Wealdstone tickets last season and trying to get through was a complete joke. I feel the pain of the person above who had to call 23 times because that's what it's like every time I try to call. They can't be relied on to pick up. I get that they might be busy at times but that's no excuse for the phone system being perpetually unmanned and not having a answer machine.

I get that they are busy and doing a fantastic job but getting through is a problem. I bought my kids a town top each before the play-off final and paid for delivery as I was working. I got my parcel, opened it up and 1 shirt was missing! I was on hold for 1 hour before it disconnected and only got through by ringing the ticket office. We are doing our bit as fans buying shirts, tickets and whatever else we can get our hands on in the club shop but I can't help but think some more staff would be welcomed by everyone.

I guess the issue (aside from those bloody Perspex screens) is they’re still getting g used to operating like a real club, a professional outfit. I know we’re a year on but it takes time and a mentality shift. I’d argue that this summer has been unprecedented in the demand and interest so couple that with old pts gives that need eradicating and it gets a tad messy.

There’s another survey coming out, they listened last time…

Mate, you’re not allowed to offer reasoned, evidence based criticism/feedback of the club under 1878. Doing so means you’re a Friend of Fenty or even his latest wife.

Good Points

The online option for us ST exiles works. I can say  if we have a good season this scramble for tickets will continue. We need updates not half measures SOLD OUT,  NOT SOLD OUT, APPLYING FOR MORE ETC . its all new to us supporters not really having to face the real possibility of actually not having a away ticket  every other week !!
