Braithwaite picked one up today, along with Essell, Tomlinson and Khouri against Hull. Good to see some decent performances from our young lads albeit against opposition lower than what we'll face in the season. Can see a fair few getting minutes in the Papa John's Trophy at this rate

They will hopefully be the first group receiving longer assistance and advice with proper progression towards full squad places, and then perhaps forcing themselves into 1st team contention.

Coke could well be a real asset as the go-between needed to harden these lads to the reality of the football world.

Maybe using "Giles" as well would be better in sentences like that.

Ex player Olly Lancashire does a similar role at Southampton and is known as a support player. He was signed to play exclusively for the u23's there and pass on his experience.

Not quite the same coaching role as Coke but similar aims.

With having 7 subs this season and 5 during the game it could be a real chance for the youngsters to get league minutes too.
