Shame the Hull game wasn't the first fixture. The presence of a crowd probably led to Khan pushing himself a little too much. He certainly looks a clever and combative player. Quick to see the movement of team mates and  confident under pressure. Yet another injury at Clee. Virtually the only plus from the first half apart from McAtee's usual mix of pressing, creativity and goal threat. Oh, and an encouraging session from Efete. Midfield was dire. No talking, no composure and hoof ball to Essel poor lad.

Much better shape, passing and movement in second half. Tomlinson was all over the pitch and showed his natural ability, awareness and touch. Dropped deep at times to give options to defenders and took up wide positions to stretch their full backs. Will be a good option from the bench when we have points on the board. Not enough physicality for a loan to lower league.

Wouldn't call out any of the youth or first year pros for faults but I would certainly praise Khouri for his break up play and quick thinking going forward. Cleethorpes provided a good test for our defenders but none of the keepers on show had much to do. Hurst was polite about the pitch but it was far too hard for a pre season game when players have barely left the beach.

It was like a library on the pitch. Fox did more talking and organising last year in this fixture than any of the twenty three players on view today. We need an experienced centre mid sooner rather than later.

Possibly organised for Hurst to re-acquaint himself with Smith, and possibly other players too, with an eye on either making a bid on him or securing another loan

Agree on Jones, think we’ll be lucky to get Smith back but you never know.

Smith is in Istanbul with the First Team so he won't be involved
