In the close season players like Bobby Ross had to work, he & several other players worked on the bingo at the Beachcomber Holiday Camp around 1966 to say 1970 ish, as they were my heroes i would stand & look at the Town players and feel so sorry for them spending 6 to 7 days a week calling out the bingo numbers, if only the players of today could see how Pro footballers lived back then. RIP, BOBBY ROSS.

One of my favourite players, but I remember him as a skilful player driving us on from midfield, certainly not as a hard man.

I remember going to Mansfield away midweek and Ross was tasked with marking Tommy Knox (ex Newcastle winger). Knox gave him the runaround but in the second half the first time he did it Ross just took him out from behind knee high.  Sending off these days but no action taken then.  Funnily enough Knox was not quite the same after that. Those were the days. But we still lost 4-0.

My wife used to work with him at Mencap in the nineties. She said he was great to work with and spoke fondly about his Town days.
