I don’t think we’ve heard otherwise but I have been wondering whether it was a Hursty ruse to keep opposition managers guessing throughout the play-offs.

Nobody could deny he deserved a holiday but you would expect the club to have him in for surgery within days of the final should he still need it? Especially when it was expected his recovery would cause him to miss the start of next season.

Let’s hope he’s all good anyway now! Certainly didn’t have any problems getting those bottle tops off last week 🤣

Lol let the guy have a holiday, the idea of forcing him to have surgery the second the season is over after he carried on playing with an injury and was a big part of our success in the playoffs is ridiculous.

Is it an operation or a manipulation under anesthetic without any cutting?

I must say having ten players jump on his back every time he scored can't have helped much.

Pre play off games during an interview with Paul Hurst he said that Mcatee would definitely need an operation during the close season but did back that up with the fact he was not medically qualified to give a reason why.

Dead Eye Dobbin stood motionless waiting, waiting, waiting for the ball to arrive. Back came the right foot, Down came the right foot, Bang ! Headlines around the world as the ball flew into the very top right hand corner of the goal.( Jim Dobbin scoring in the 89th minute for Town against Newcastle United away 24/10/1992 )

Sounds like the synopsis for a David Cronenberg film

I remember some years ago that Walcott needed to have surgery on both shoulders after one was dislocated. He had some sort of congenital weakness which they fixed to reduce the risk of recurrence. Perhaps the doctors have recommended the same for McAtee?

McAtee's style of play was a lot different when he came back from the injury.  More focused on influencing the game with the ball at his feet than dashing around and making tackles.  Now that could have been under orders to benefit the team, a natural occurrence of how we set up to play or because he was protecting himself a little.

Either way it suited us and we benefited.  The lad has an abundance of energy and whilst I'd never want to see him stop his pressing game, his energy was far better suited buzzing in and around Taylor than chasing back 60 yards and then spending the next five minutes with his hands on his thighs trying to catch breath.

I think he will need some sort of procedure.  Once you've done some damage to your shoulder it's very rare you get away with it just getting back to normal on its own.
