What’s happened over there recently?

I only have a passing look, but only a couple years ago they knocked on the door of championship football.

I hear injuries had a bad impact.

I know this is a GTFC forum, I’m just curious to know more about the team we will be passing in a years time.

Lead to believe (from a Lincoln fan) they relied heavily on loan signings over the last few years who ultimately they didn't / couldn't retain. They also let a few other players go and ultimately Appleton couldn't recreate the previous seasons good form last year and they finished a couple of places above the relegation zone.

They've just appointed Mark Kennedy as their new manager, Irish ex Liverpool, Wolves, Man City midfielder. He was Birmingham assistant manager, his only managerial stint was a brief spell with Macclesfield in the run in to being relegated to the National League and ultimately wound up. I think the jury is out on that one for now.

From my work mates they had a good season like GM said, due to some good loans (Brennan Johnson) and few goods players.  But they lost a few of those good players (Jorge Grant going to Peterborough for example) but last season they cut back and didn't get the same type of quality player in.  The reason why Appleton left, was because he was getting a smaller budget, so its same old Lincoln, sweaty palms and bottled it.  A bit like when their Chairman during the 80's told the manager to lose games not get promoted.

Charles Vernam has just signed for The Imps …. is he any good,?

That Goal of the Season winner v Colchester was a bit special wasn’t it, is it reflective of his spell with you, or just a one off?

Yes he is, but we never got a consistant performamces from him, but that could easily be down to how excrement the squad around him was that season

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

One of those flashes of brilliance, we signed him on loan from Derby under Slade, he was okay. Came back under Jolley permanently and was in and out of the team, he ended up on loan at Chorley where he scored 3 in 4 and it seemed to work as a real kick up the behind, as when he came back he hit a rich vein of form that concluded with him doing enough to move up at League to Burton at the end of the year. I think he only really seemed to be at his peak for us in his final months. Obviously struggled at Burton and they got rid of him 6 months into a 2 year contract and he had to drop back down to League Two. I'm lead to believe at Bradford he was a bit of a late bloomer as well, I know at one point he was linked with coming back here on loan.

He's the definition of inconsistency. Goes through some matches where you don't even notice he's on the pitch, but there's others where he looks like he should be playing a few divisions higher. Definitely isn't a battler - the better version of him only seems to show up when the rest of the team are doing well and he's being indulged by the manager.
