The Miracle Of Castel Di Sangro by Joe McGinniss

It's 20 years old but I have had it on my list for years, and have just started it. I knew it would be brilliant and it is! A must for all fans of smaller clubs.

A Season With Verona by Tim Parks is also an all-time classic about Italian football.

These books beat hands down all the ghost written celebrity biogs which bore me to death.

Simon Jordan’s autobiography is excellent. 10 years old now but a really insightful account into the trials and tribulations of football club ownership.

Be Good, Love Brian by Craig Bromfield is a wonderful book. It's about a young lad from Sunderland who's is more or less adopted by Brian Clough .Just published this year Craig reveals what it was like to live with a violent father in Sunderland and how he and his brother went to live with the Clough's during Brian's time as manager of Notts Forest. It certainly reveals what a caring man family man Cloughie was. Best football book I've read in a long time. Interestingly the relationship between the football manager and young Bromfield was initiated by an ex Grimsby Town manager. I say no more.

There's a guy called Michael Calvin who has written some good books looking into various aspects of professional football.

'No Hunger in Paradise' is my favourite which looks into the world of academy football which has great insights and stats.
'The Nowhere Men' delves into scouting and follows both career scouts and out of work coaches/managers keeping their eye in.
'Living on the Volcano' looks more in depth at managers and their workload and the balance between work/life.

If you're interested in football then I'd fully recommend these as a read.
