Here are the key dates next season for both the winners and losers of tomorrow's Promotion Final.

The new EFL season starts 8 weeks/56 days from today. The new National League season starts 9 weeks/63 days from today. It is worth noting that this season the players reported back on Thurday 1st July for fitness tests etc... which was 51 days before the scheduled start date of 21st August.

If Hurst wanted the same length pre-season this year the players would have to return to Cheapside next Thursday if we win tomorrow or a week on Thursday if Solihull are promoted.

Whether we win or lose tomorrow getting ready for next season will be tough.

Obviously all these day were announced as provisional. I think we can trust the FA & EFL, but as we know the National League make it up as they go along.

The only argument against your return to Cheapside dates would be that our players and Solihulls , regardless of where they play their trade next season is that they have been keeping the fitness levels going for 2 -3 weeks longer than all those that ended their seasons in regular season time.
Therefore a couple of weeks delay in return wouldn't be as catastrophic.
Releasing players, bringing in new players in that timescale is slightly different though, especially as we never seem to start the season with all players in place.

That is a good point, also it should be noted that the general viewpoint from myself and other supporters is that for once we don't need a total clear out of players, we already have in my opinion a good spine irrespective of what league we are in and therefore need to sign less players than we did start of this season for example, so in theory starting a little later than other clubs shouldn't have too much of a negative impact

Also I would rather finish the season late cos we have a chance of going up than finish it on time cos we don't have a chance of going up

Was there a Friday 31st July Sky TV Championship game a few years ago?

I’ve checked. No. The earliest ever start was a Friday night Sky game on Friday 2nd August 2019. The game finished Luton 3-3 Middlesbrough.

Just looking at this thread now we know what division we'll be in next season.

It says that EFL fixtures will be released on Thursday 19th June but the 19th of June is a Sunday!!

Just googled it and it should say Thursday 23rd June!

If I could remember which club’s OS where I copy and pasted this from I’d name and shame them.

It was an EFL club so we can rule out Scunthorpe.

I think you mean the year before last 2020 but that was because they didn’t play in April and May due to covid so I think my question remains
