Not strictly true. Some tickets were cheaper but my mates a Forest season ticket holder and he paid £67 quid in the upper tier…

Controversial opinion here. They’ve got to make their money somehow. There isn’t the same interest or lucrative sponsorship as the higher leagues. It’s like comparing our season ticket prices with Championship/Premier League. Apples and oranges.

Hold it in a venue that isn't in London for a start to reduce travel and parking costs. £25 a ticket at Villa Park, Hillsborough, any of the 3 in the North East or Etihad for a start would have been fine.

Imagine the London Stadium charges a lot on rent, and the national league wanted to make sure the stadium had some ‘prestige’, with the idea of the London 2012 Olympic Stadium being only second best to Wembley in that regard, plus keeping it as a ‘London trip’ which has focused on National League and club responses to the semis. One of those ‘in theory’ situations, because I bet we could have got a stadium such as Hillsborough, Villa Park (would be basically in their city but with them having a tiny fanbase would just mean both clubs have reasonable attendances etc), for less money, with it easier for fans to go etc, and had a showpiece event which was either sold out or nearly sold out. Instead, the National League get their little day out at a fancy London stadium, with a much smaller crowd suffering awful sight lines. Joke of a decision.

More expensive than a WHU Cat C game in this tax payer subsidised Stadium. I wonder if WHU will take a share of the revenue or will the stadium fees go to the GLA.

Because the view from the lower tier is shite. The lower tier has a very gentle incline so you’re not much higher than the row in front of you. The upper tier is much steeper and afford a better view.

View the prices by considering an adult ticket is only double what Kings Lynn Town charged for standing. When viewed that way £43 is a bargain.

What do you mean "somehow"? By ripping off fans who are already shelling out ridiculous money to get to London on Jubilee flipping weekend, when they could have had it at any north west or midlands ground that has a capacity of 30lk or more. That's the only way? No doubt the London stadium isn't cheap to hire for the day but that shouldn't be our problem. Twenty's plenty. I do wonder if fans of 5th division sides in other European countries would just accept paying €50 on top of extortionate travel costs to their capital, to watch a match in a stadium almost unanimously panned by fans for the experience it offers. Or would they organise? Are we the only mugs? I'm sure I'll get "either pay it or don't, your choice" in response, so i'll save you the time

I take it that 'Concession (u16)' price of £20 means that there is no reduction for 65+?
The table of ticket prices shows no concessions for Upper Tier at all. I'm not prepared to have a poor view so looks like it's £45 + £3 + 99p for me!

Absolutely disgraceful pricing. That stadium is not fit for football and it’s on the jubilee weekend as well. The organisers of this league aren’t fit to run a urine up in a brewery.

I’m not surprised, I’m not really angry either. Just used to being ripped off by these sorts of decisions. £44 for a shite view bloody miles away from home in the capital on a Jubifuckinglee weekend. I’m so sorry for anyone who can’t afford it - and it’ll be more than we think it will be. Could see us struggling to break 12k to be honest.

I mean I can't really say I'm surprised, it's about the price I expected. It's not cheap for non-league but that's football for you in this country. It can cost you £22 just to sit at BP for a start.
Hopefully it doesn't put people off.

My lad was cleaning out his office yesterday and found his 1998 Wembley ticket. He was 20 years old and at Hull Uni. Paid £26. Not cheap but it was Hallowed Turf!
As a fairly fit 'baby boomer', with a professional pension, I'm not too impacted by the lack of a concession but the anti family ethos in the Upper Tier is shameful.

Well, as a neutral - There’s absolutely no chance I’m paying those prices. Ridiculous decision from the National League. I was looking forward to making a trip down and supporting effectively my “2nd” team.
In the midst of the biggest financial crisis and hardship to families all over the country, they are actually trying to justify £40 a ticket for 5th level football, that’s not including the “booking fee” and “email fee”. Jokers at the top. Let’s not forget the coaches/trains down.. add in spends for the day. You’re looking at £100+ plus for one person.
I’ll stay in Grimsby for the weekend and watch it with the missus at home with some beers. Hope those that actually make the trip, have a great day out as it’s deserved but f**k me £40. Insane pricing.

Why do the bodies that run the game at every level seem to have such disdain for the fans? UEFA, the FA, The National League...
This should never have been in London in the first place once Wembley wasn't an option and it was clear the teams were all going to Midlands and North. On jubilee weekend.
Then to charge this?! This will outprice many with travel plus ticket, and even those it won't, for many it will mean a real cutback/budgeting month to stretch to it. Which it shouldn't happen to go see your team in the 5th tier.
Can anyone get a name of anyone making these decisions? Feel they need to be accountable and come on Humberside or on Twitter or wherever to hear fans and have to justify their decision, instead of hiding behind faceless statements.

As someone pointed out, for a final, at a modern stadium, £44 doesn’t seem that bad when many of us paid £20 to get in Kings Lynn…
That said, it doesn’t make it right and I suspect those floating fans will possibly vote with their pocket, and who could argue with them.
The people running the game at every level have little idea or little care about the fans, or do they and it’s sheer greed and the arrogance knowing fans will pay it to see their teams…

It is nothing short of a disgrace and bless my mother for paying the price because I certainly can't afford to, factor in travel etc and you're hitting the price of a season ticket. I am extremely lucky in that respect, but many won't be, and I really feel for them.
Many have pointed out that the Championship final today was £36. That has been countered by people pointing out that they were the cheapest tickets, and others paid 70+. Let us actually think about that for a moment...
So they've effectively made THE CHEAPEST TICKETS MORE EXPENSIVE, you know, the ones most people are scraping together to afford, and the more high end tickets, cheaper. You couldn't make this sh!t up. Utter contempt for the working class fan who once again, has been all but priced out of a family day out to watch 5th tier football.
There comes a point where people have to answer for these decisions. Not a National League Twitter Page, not a 'statement' given to the Press. Fans need to come together to show their disgust at this because they will take the p!ss until we stop them, it has always been that way.

Sport has to be accessible and inclusive, this pricing is anything but that. It's a bloody disgrace that this has been allowed to go ahead at West Ham. This final should be at Hillsborough, King Power, Villa Park, St Andrews, Hawthorns, etc and etc.

That said, it doesn’t make it right and I suspect those floating fans will possibly vote with their pocket, and who could argue with them.
The people running the game at every level have little idea or little care about the fans, or do they and it’s sheer greed and the arrogance knowing fans will pay it to see their teams…
Yeah but people don’t pay to see the stadium they pay to see the teams . Our teams as good as they are aren’t full of the worlds best players or Internationals . We’re paying world class prices to see non league players

I’ll be going but really feel for those who can’t make it. Those going need to make some sort of protest even if it’s a chant of ‘you robbing baarstewards you know what you are’ in the 44th minute.

I've been to about 14 away games this season including Notts and Wrexham. I don't think I can afford Sunday though.

Ticket prices are disgusting and I feel desperately for those who can't afford it but let's not lose the excitement of this because of those twits. I have family members who I didn't think would come saying 'intercourse it, we're in:. Keep telling those who can afford it that it will still be worth it and we need as many there as possible, making as much noise as possible.

Unfortunately these are the prices I expected, infact I expected them to be about £45 not including booking fees etc so they are cheaper than I budgeted for so I will still be going. The fact that some tickets for the championship play off final was cheaper is disgusting. They clearly don't give a excrement about the fans and the price will stop people from going.

Sadly neither can I... But luckily (or not so lucky) I got my first credit card a few months back (hate the idea of them) so I'll be using that to have an enjoyable weekend and pay it back over the next 2-3 months.

I genuinely feel for people who are going to struggle to afford these prices. It is, without a doubt, a complete and utter indictment on the National League, to be exploiting people like this. Especially when the nation is in turmoil because of the dire economical crisis which has resulted in increases to the cost of living, the like of which we have never seen before.
The price comparisons alone between the fixture held at Wembley for the Championship playoff final is astounding. What on earth do the National League think they are doing? What added value proposition do they think a 5th tier football fixture has, over and above the richest fixture in the world that took place between Forest and Huddersfield to enter the Premier League?
Something has to be done about this, and quickly. Doubt anything can be done about it in time to change anything now though. But certainly something quick has to be done to get this into the mainstream media, to highlight how the National League is exploiting people financially, above and beyond anything that is either affordable or that represents value for money.

What price did you think it would be? This is a one off occasion at a Premier league stadium- the Olympic stadium no less. Just because the 2 teams are in the National league doesn't make any difference. If the tickets were £35 or £30 would it really make much difference? The only way to avoid having an expensive day out at a final is not to get to a final and none of us want that.

More expensive than a WHU Cat C game in this tax payer subsidised Stadium. I wonder if WHU will take a share of the revenue or will the stadium fees go to the GLA.

What did pay for the FGR game?
It's going to put off the casuals and friends of London Mariners etc who may have gone along for the ride.
It's a good thing that the price will put off the casuals; all those Tachini tracksuit tops, faded jeans and wedge haircuts are just so 80s.

I paid £36 plus booking fee back in 2016 behind the goal…just found my ticket. I’m more shocked that folk expected anything less than £40. Doesn’t make it right but surely people are aware of how much we get ripped off these days?

Yes it absolutely would make a lot of difference for some people. Circa 35% cheaper in your suggestion above, would give people another £16 or so in their pocket for other expenses on the day. You have asked what I expected, well I will answer that. I expected that the league responsibly considered the cost of living, the recovery from the pandemic etc. and took into account that many people out there are suffering from extreme hardship. They've even got the location wrong. Totally wrong. They only chose that venue a few weeks ago, at a time when it looked nailed on that the final would be played by Northern teams or teams no further South than the West Midlands. Even if a Dagenham, Boreham Wood or Bromley had crept in, then the sensible thing to do, would have been to find a more central venue, making it easier and more accessible for all, at a time when the nation is struggling to recover. These are not ordinary times, and we are living in a struggling nation at the moment. It's very easy for those that can afford this to be flippant and dismissive of other peoples struggles. Can I afford this? Yes I can. But I am already seeing social network comments from people that are not going to be able to afford this, and from those that are going to get themselves into debt to get there. It's just not right. What I also find astounding, is that all tickets are subject to a £3 per ticket booking fee. Wow that's a 7.5% charge on the face value of a ticket. Shocking. Then on top of that a further 99p charge just to get your tickets emailed to you. How the hell on earth can the world of IT and automation result in people being charged all of these extras on top of the face face value of a ticket. It's profiteering of the highest order, and taking advantage.

I sent a message about places to drink to a friend who tells me he is priced out. Premier League aways are capped at £30 so I've been to the likes of Man U, Man City and Newcastle (all better venues in my opinion) for much less. I went to the FA Youth Cup final at OT. £1 I'll be going but I think the decision to hold the game in London was wrong let alone at those prices.

I guess the simple answer is, if people don’t agree then don’t pay. If people can’t afford it they can’t go. That doesn’t make it right and I suspect that will form decision making for some folk. In truth I suspect anyone that visited any sort of final event, gig etc was expecting this price. Again, not suggesting it is right but it’s how it is and until people take a stand, nothing will happen. As for the venue choice, it’s shite but perhaps they went for there because other stadiums have already ripped up their pitches etc and the money made isn’t worth it? I’m not sticking up for the league at all but there’s a wider discussion. Personally, I think it’s the add on fees that are a joke, the whole point of electronic tickets is to reduce costs and save the environment, not fleece people.

I'm not sure whether it's the design of the stadium and the quality (or lack thereof) of the views being considered good wherever you are, but I'm surprised that there isn't a wider group of categories available and/or wider discrimination of prices based on status. The info on OS says Adult and Junior. Flat rates. The prices aren't a million miles from what I anticipated, I thought in the region of £36 for adults but I also thought that would be for your average adult in the 'mid-range' area of the stadium. With football supposedly being for families, I'm surprised there's no family tickets (2+2), or breakdown of cost on age (5-11, 12-16, 17-21, OAP for example). Even though most fans would expect the cost to be higher than your average league game, it would have made the total cost a little more bearable, most notably for families planning to travel with young kids. My initial excitement at getting there was stifled when I saw the prices and with me taking a 6 and 10 year old, along with the wife who follows Town without really being that bothered (she has minimal choice really!) I have spent the morning figuring out whether it's worth the outlay. We could afford it but will have to make concessions throughout the month but I know I'll likely be in the majority with that. The kids have been to some games and my eldest seems to enjoy it but neither even celebrate a goal so will they get the full value of the experience? I hope so, especially at £20 a ticket! My big hope is that the stadium and the occasion really help show what the game is about for them. I get the NL need to cover the cost of Stadium hire but as many other have pointed out I think they've dropped a ball on this one in not having a useable Plan B in the event of Northern team finals (as is true and looked so for a while) and massively for the fees on top which are criminal.

The sad reality is the people setting these prices understand the unique nature of football audiences. There is a large, hard core of support that will pay virtually any price for a ticket because the magnitude of the game is simply too big to miss.
As a result, the prices are set as high as they can realistically get away with. Excessive pricing may put off a few floating fans, but a 25% reduction in price for instance to a more reasonable £30 isn’t going to increase the attendance by an equivalent percentage. It’s classic price gouging.
This isn’t helped by the wider economic situation right now; rising operating costs give them the perfect excuse to hide behind, but completely ignores the financial pressure the average person on the street is under.
It’s morally wrong, insensitive, tone deaf and completely unsurprising.

Apologies, misinterpreted. I think there’s a few in that boat. If I could play devil’s advocate for a minute - would a £40 ticket to a final at Hillsborough for example still be a rip off given that it’s probably half way between the two clubs and travel etc would be cheaper? We’re paying for the cost of the stadium hire essentially.

I’d expect Sheff Wednesday would snap their hands off if they asked them to host at 20 quid a head , and heys probably had got 20000 there too

No I iciest behind the goal…very strange…
It is odd. If they’re only going to release them once the initial ones have been sold then there’s a realistic chance of their being no fans behind either goal, which surely isn’t what you want in a final? Wembley did things differently, selling all the tickets in the lower bowl behind the goal and on the side opposite to the main camera so that the ground looked as full as possible on TV. The way they’re doing this they’re running the risk of things looking very patchy, particularly in the Solihull end unless they have a big following of floating fans on the day.

Couldn't see an option anywhere to purchase the blue badge parking pass :/
Likewise mate, I've emailed the customer service team about the BB parking, nothing back yet though.

Unfortunately this is just another example of an organisation that is so incompetent it's unbelievable. i only hope we do get promoted on Sunday, , and do all that is humanly possible to never ever have to be involved with this joke called the National League.

The National League have admitted that they planned for a possible Notts County v Wrexham final and needing a stadium that could hold 50k.

What an absolute disgrace those prices are. No one should have to pay £50 to watch a game of football.

Wondering if their plan is to get those lower blocks largely sold out to season ticket holders first and then put the blocks behind the goal on sale when they go on general sale later.

It's just typical of this organisation that when they are comparing last years pricing as an excuse for the pricing for sundays game, that they are probably unaware that for the majority of fans, watching their team play at Wembley is not just a game but a memorable occasion. Playing at the London Stadium is not.

Lots of tickets gone already looking at the seating plan, not many left in the lower west stand, lower east selling well and a few pockets in the upper sections. Very strange set up with regards to the behind goal sections, seemingly unavailable.

Tickets for disabled, wheelchair users, ambulant disabled, all going on sale tomorrow, after having been told to turn up at ticket office today after 10am. A few disgruntled fans having a wasted journey. So some seating / areas will be set aside for them, family, friends and carers.

All on email mate, no need to print anything. Tickets issued closer the day and should be able to keep them in your apple wallet if you’ve got iPhone.

It's the first day of sales, to STH only, in a massive stadium that will be half empty at least - how can areas be selling out already? I just want a few in the lower tier along the side, not too much to ask for surely! I hope some are still available when it's general sale - is that 4pm today or tomorrow?

Unfortunately it’s because they know fans will pay the extortionate prices so they’ll carry on charging us for it.

Sadly neither can I... But luckily (or not so lucky) I got my first credit card a few months back (hate the idea of them) so I'll be using that to have an enjoyable weekend and pay it back over the next 2-3 months.
The slippery slope. I got my first credit card at age 21, and a quarter of a century later I’m still up to my eyeballs in credit card debt! Be careful.

YES! For a family of four it makes a huge difference, £40 + is not insignificant in a household budget

£35 inclusive of any extra fees would be a reasonable price in my opinion, but like you say, that extra £10 per person really does add up

It does add up but if you assume tickets were the same price as last time, £36, with additional fees that makes them £40. I know it’s a saving for £16 but in truth that’s not a lot, wouldn’t even be enough petrol to get you half way. The price is the price and because so many of us have paid it they’ll continue to rise. I expected around the £40/45 mark and that’s what we got. My issue is the additional fees, the rip off of paying for an electronic ticket and the fact you can’t sit behind the goal unless you want to be in the gods. The moment they started faffing with dates, venues and the like we all knew it would be a farce. The decision now, for a few will be whether to bother. I’d imagine that if you’re a floating fan with a couple of kids that aren’t that bothered then you may choose not to go…that said, even a single bloke nipping to his local would still spend close to the price of a ticket these days. What I’d like to know is what’s happening with those that demanded tickets be sold in the ticket office for big games, like the two we’ve just had…

It couldn’t be Notts County AND Wrexham in the final because they would have met in the semi final. Cheeky anyway that they think we would not have taken the shames them.

Course it wouldnt, but it doesn't work like that- you have the petrol regardless, its just fairer on fans who already have the travel costs to not then have extortionate ticket prices. If its tenner a ticket and family of 4, its £40 extra. If the difference to the day out all in is between £280 and £320, yes the £280 would automatically exclude many sadly (and let's not forget this shouldn't be in London on jubilee weekend at all) but we've all got the tipping point and for many who can sort the £280, an extra £40 makes the decision much harder.
Quoted Text

Think that's a stretch. Can't remember last time I nipped to my local and drank 12 pints...

Why do we concentrate on things that we cannot alter (price, location, view etc). I'm sorry to be positive but my team has worked so hard to make it to this point, and we now stand on the edge of an immediate return to the football league. I've just bought two tickets, and I am looking forward to a sunny Sunday!

Cos it's not right that it prices out football fans, and it's important that we recognise that and ideally pool together to do something about it - make our voices heard. If we all believe 'football without fans is nothing' then solidarity and collective action is important. At the very least I think it's important to acknowledge that people are priced out of following their team. We can have price caps, I think Germany has a much better approach if I'm not mistaken, pro games for 8€ a game etc. and often free train travel with match tickets As for positivity about the team, they aren't mutually exclusive. I can be positive about this season on and off the pitch, whilst being annoyed at actions of the National League in their disregard for fans.

It would be interesting if Humberside’s Burnsey or even Kristine could ask the league a few pertinent questions, eg, why London when they knew all the clubs involved were Birmingham and further north, how are the prices calculated etc, but we all know that no one from the league are going to interrupt their lovely weekend in London watching the Queens jubilee, oh yes and then nipping over to West Ham to watch 2 teams they didn’t even want there.

Yes Plankton. The club are arranging those via the stadium. Just contact them.

How many stadiums have a match ready pitch? We ripped our pitch up 2 days after our last home game. How many PL clubs are going to want to wait 2 or 3 weeks after their final home match before doing their own pitch work just to host the NL Promotion Final? The same issue last season resulted in Bristol as they had a rugby union club still finishing their season.

I'm guessing you have access to the ST release and I'm taking this as that the lower tier has already sold out?

There was only a few lower tier blocks available, nothing behind the goal has gone on sale

Apparently only single tickets left in the lower tier though quite a few blocks not been made available. Seems a lack of clarity over whether some or any of these will be made available or whether they've been taken out because of an impending concert to be held there. An absolute flipping shambles.

Think there's going to be either a mad rush for the remaining lower tier tickets come 4pm or people who will be severely affected if they're unaware of the lack of lower tier and an assumption there'd be plenty for a while yet (I naively admit to this). If lower is gone by the time they're on general release then that will be me out

Surely a massive disadvantage if one team has no fans behind the goal whilst the other does. I really hope that’s not the case.

This is my take on it. I know it doesn’t really fit the narrative but most clubs rip their pitch up ASAP to give it time to settle, may be they’re not doing that because of the events through the summer, much like the Etihad was likely out the question, big gig this week and city probably working on the stadium straight after. I understand that logistically it a shite choice and the fees on top of a ticket price are outrageous but I’m more shocked that people are shocked at the ticket price. Quoting the play off finals at Wembley doesn’t really help goven only a small number were under the £40 mark, especially for yesterdays game so it’s not really an argument. Equally, had the game been at Villa park or Anfield or whatever they’d have still been that price and likely travel costs would’ve been the same…

Absolute madness if they require the entirety of our initial, mostly upper tier allocation to be sold before releasing and more lower tier seats.

The way these tickets have been sold is nothing short of bizarre, the price, the short notice of where it is, the choice, the way they’re being sold, it’s all bonkers…oh well…see ya there…

The OS did call this period a 'limited pre-sale', so there may be more sections opened later? Certainly hope so.
*EDIT* Also, Soccer Aid is being held there next Sunday and they're selling tickets in all sections for that. The next concert is on the 24th. So I don't think the end sections are out of action?

When Town played Palace a few years back, I took in West Ham v Birmingham in the lunch time fixture, mainly because tickets were cheap and it was a case of whilst down there....
The views aren't great and the atmosphere struggled to get going.
The image below was my view from the upper tier, obviously the fact it's a picture slightly distorts the perception a little but it really did feel like we were miles away from the action.

Nothing available in the lower tier, looks like there is no seats directly behind the goal. So a ground famous for having a terrible atmosphere anyway will be even worse. And if you're going with young'uns they'll be forced to pay £40. What a con. It's disgusting.

Exactly DHM, it’s not a ‘football stadium’ its a purpose built sports arena. I’d like the NL to definitively say WHY they chose the Olympic stadium for the game.

Solihull’s initial allocation even more bizarre than ours. Why on earth would you structure it like that?

No concessions in the upper tier when that’s where most seats are is a disgrace. We really need clarification that more lower tier seats won’t become available before parents spend even more on kids tickets

I love this quote from the league chairman :
Vanarama National League Chairman Jack Pearce stated the venue - which witnessed some truly spectacular and historic sporting moments ten years ago during the London 2012 Olympics - is the perfect fit for some more magic.
He said: “We are delighted to be working with London Stadium as our partner for this season’s finale."
The League General Manager Mark Ives added “It is a fantastic sporting arena with a rich history and very befitting of our showpiece Promotion Final.
“Whilst we don’t know who will get to the Promotion Final yet, what we can now promise is a stadium worthy of hosting such a huge game."

Club statement: Following a tremendous take up of pre-sale tickets from our season ticket holders, the entire Lower Tier of the North side of the London Stadium has now sold out for Sunday’s Promotion Final. Grimsby Town FC has since been made aware that it is currently showing that there are no concessions tickets available in the Upper Tier – the only section of the stadium still selling tickets to Mariners fans. We just want to reassure fans that we are currently in discussions with the National League who are looking to find a solution urgently. As ever, we will continue to keep our supporters up to date as soon as we have more information to share. https://gtfc.co.uk/club-statement-concession-tickets/

Struggling to believe all the 'single' seats have sold in the lower tiers but very little sold in the upper tiers. There were 2 singles in blocks at opposite ends of the ground when I logged in at 4pm.
With kids to take I'm going to wait until the club/league clarify the lack of concessions in upper tier before I book any tickets.

That's what I thought, but between 4.01pm and logging back in at 4.05pm over 40 seats around the area of my main location of tickets had gone.

The solution is surely as simple as ‘release all remaining lower tier tickets’. The only conceivable reason not to is that they intend to sell the more profitable upper tier tickets first, and that simply isn’t on.

That’s bóllocks. The next event scheduled there is Soccer Aid and all seats are available. It’s the same at the Solihull end; it’s just nonsensical management of our respective allocations.

Selecting seats on that website was horrendous for me as well, pot luck as to whether it worked.
Got tickets in block 238 anyway.

They're also only selling the bottom half of the top tier so they do seem to be staggering it.

Large parts of the top of upper tier are unusable for football as they do not meet minimum sight line regulations. As such they remain tarped off; this is the case for West Ham games too.

Absolutely crazy. So are the seats behind the goal still in tact or been removed (I've seen from 2 different sources it's been removed behind they're only temporary seating anyway) Either way we're sorted. Just drunk off we're miles away.

I assume if you buy tickets now without the concession than there will be no refund and if you wait the better viewing blocks may be sold out so unbelievable that this wasn’t sorted out before the tickets went on sale. Also there’s always that doubt that further lower tier seats may be released if sales continue to be high. Makes the decision of when to buy and in what area a tad difficult to say the least!!

No more lower seats can become available. What is showing available is what is available to us. Massive well done to the club for sorting concessions in the upper.

Have you heard anything official about anything at all? Ive looked at our current allocation and looked at Solihulls. I'm taking a wild guess all of our allocation is what is showing available right now. Solihull have the same regards the side stands but currently behind the goal top tier isn't available.. So unless they shift a load, their fans will be split in 2

NO. The seats won't be in the stadium, it'll be the race track (it runs below the lower seats behind the goals)

Doesn’t stack up that. The seats behind the goal weren’t the only ones in the lower tier not made available and they wouldn’t be able to accommodate the 25,000 allocation stated without at least some of those seats behind the goal.

From what I can gather the seats can be moved back for the running track but removing them completely would be a huge job. It can't be emphasised enough what a shambles this is.

One can only assume they've taken 5k from each side behind the goals which equates to 10k. 25+25 =50k. Add on the 10k from the seats removed behind the goals and there you have it. Let's just wait and see. I'm excited to see how many tickets we've sold today.

Went for block 238 as low as possible. Not quite as far away from the action as high behind the goal. Shocking from the national league.

On that showing for the first day sales I reckon we’ll crack 15000 which won’t be too bad considering the short notice and prices ect

Managed to get 22 tickets together in block 238 for friends and family accrosd the U.K. but what a pallavor and took two hours to work out how to do it then do it. Now have to hope the email arrives . Call me a dinosaur but queuing up for two hours is less stressful. Then went to club to collect a shirt I had ordered only to find it didn’t exist as was out of stock even though system said it wasn’t. It’s a good job the players are performing

I don’t think they have much in stock in the club shop , they’ve really messed up by not sticking it with the new kits in time for a possible play off final

Jason said a few weeks ago they would keep this kit until the end of the season whatever happens out of respect for the long term relationship with Youngs. Classy act.

Solihull’s initial allocation even more bizarre than ours. Why on earth would you structure it like that?

View the prices by considering an adult ticket is only double what Kings Lynn Town charged for standing. When viewed that way £43 is a bargain.
so a doubling of what was a rip off price is a bargain????

What price did you think it would be?
This is a one off occasion at a Premier league stadium- the Olympic stadium no less.
Just because the 2 teams are in the National league doesn't make any difference. If the tickets were £35 or £30 would it really make much difference?
The only way to avoid having an expensive day out at a final is not to get to a final and none of us want that.
yes it would. a- because it's a) not a complete rip off and b) because your watching the ultimate game/the culmination of the season at a really good venue. a 50% uptake is reasonable, a 100% uptake is a rip off

unacceptable- seats behind the goal missing for a final ( if true) seats in the upper tier not available because you can't see properly The league haven't done their homework and a rip off price to boot Ive been 3 times not really a football stadium more of a white elephant left over from 2012 which allowed some owners to make a fortune on real estate and replace a ground steeped in memories and tradition with crap views and a missive concourse running through the seating section giving you the feeling you've been cut adrift offshore in a word A DUMP

Upton Park was a really special proper football ground. Great night there with Town in the FA Cup game, must have been amazing when there was terracing.

The National League have admitted that they planned for a possible Notts County v Wrexham final and needing a stadium that could hold 50k.

West Ham fan on Twitter has confirmed that the ends have been taken out, this is what it looks like: https://twitter.com/LukePearson1966/status/1531371235124330496
That’s just so utterly National League. A play-off final in a ground where there will be no fans behind either goal. Instead, a massive gaping hole. All they’ve done there is embarrass themselves. It’s going to look suitably tin pot on TV, in a week when Town’s performances alone have probably added a good 20,000 or so to viewing figures. Pìss poor.

OMG. In a week where we have made a MASSIVE NOISE for non-league football with two incredibly exciting televised games, which have been massively well-received all around the country and beyond; made nationwide radio slots, we have learnt that weren't in the planning for the final game....wow, just wow.....
Ah well, at least we can showcase just what our town and community is all about then: caring, compassionate, empathising for others.
Sleep well you lovely people. I myself will no doubt wake up to more love tomorrow on the fishy. xxxxxxx

I assume if it was a wrexham v Notts county final they'd have made the whole stadium available?? I really hope we sell out what's been given to us. I know it's almost unthinkable and realistic but it'd stick two fingers up at the NL and Olympic stadium management team.

They've now opened up the whole of the top tier in the middle sections (half waay line) due to demand.

It looks like Solihull have shifted a lot of tickets or is it that they haven’t had those areas made available?

Don't think they've had as many seats made available yet. It looks like we've sold a decent amount since the club's update, easily above 10k now

I'd be careful with that upper tier behind the goal - looks miles back from the pitch and with no fans in front could be weird.

I sat behind that massive weird void area a few years ago when watching West Ham play Swansea. It's weird when the seats are in front of it so without them it will be a surreal and not very good experience.

A Wrexham v Notts Cty would have been impossible due to the play off places in the league. We knew when we dropped into this league how incompetent the management was from the covid season. This excuse is a classic from the Boris Johnson book of lies.

To be fair to them, it was still a possibility in April when the stadium was announced. It doesn't justify their reasoning however.

Please stop getting at Boris, he’s town through and through, you’ve all seen him wearing his town bobble hat and has already told the queen that he may be late for her celebrations if the match goes into extra time, penalties.

Roughly what I expected from this amazing club and its fans. It felt and looked like more on the stadium map... But, still a few days to go. 15k will be great which looks like we'll smash. Can we hit 18k? 👀

I think 18k is unlikely. The first and to a slightly lesser extent second day of sales will always be disproportionately higher than anything which comes after, and we've sold roughly 9,000 on day one and 2,500 on day two (so far). If it doesn't fall between 15k and 16.5k, including those donated / subsidised tickets, I'd be surprised. Probably closer the lower end I would imagine. Still a great effort for an unpopular stadium, with expensive seats (everywhere but behind the goal where there aren't any at all), in an unpopular location which is expensive to get to. I'm not suggesting it would have been a viable venue, but purely for conjecture I reckon we'd have broken the 20k barrier had the final been somewhere more easily accessible like the Etihad.

I think the price was a killer but the main problem was the 6 days notice And the lack of transport on a long bank holiday weekend. If we’d had a couple of weeks and it had been a normal weekend we’d have took 20000

That's why I questioned it. By what has happened so far I'm expecting 16k (assuming the 1,500odd that will be donated haven't been added to that already sold) that alone puts us above 13,000. 3,000 in 4 days?

Circa 14-15k from us circa 6k from Solihull so it should break 20k. How can we make sure the messaging that this is despite the decisions of National League? Not sure how critical the club will want to be but the Trust don’t need to hold back…

The club can be as critical as they like...if we win Talking of winning I have just had a look at some of Solihull's matches, including their semi-final triumph. They are very good I must say and it will be a great effort to win the final. Obviously, we can do it; even in the home match against them we were on top for long periods, and we did not have the players and/or form we have now. It seems funny to say such a small club could have such good players but it will be evenly matched. I am hoping there is a Solihull fan somewhere typing - "God Grimsby are a good side - we will have to be at our best..." Probably just nerves on my part.

That's an astonishing engagement Jeff has received there with his potential reach. I suspect that's been put in front of Vanarama marketing and a collective head in hands ensued.

The best thing about that Jeff Stelling tweet is that it quickly led me to this outstanding thread of Allan Saint-Maximin as a vibrator. This is what the internet was made for. https://mobile.twitter.com/samutdman/status/1531232764107841537

The National League have admitted that they planned for a possible Notts County v Wrexham final and needing a stadium that could hold 50k.
https://twitter.com/Ollie_Bayliss/status/1531210245950918657?t=_zZiLB_KyT0p-Ri-gcuwmA&s=19
Best bit of that statement is: "It was pointed out that no team from south of Birmingham would be involved but we thought intercourse it, we like the prawn sandwiches you get at the London Stadium and we couldn't be arsed to ring Villa Park, Hillsborough, Old Trafford, Anfield, Etihad...."

If we can get to 15K, we'll be doing pretty well. Of my friends (mostly exiles) who would normally go to a play-off Final, only a couple (plus myself) are able to attend this weekend due to stuff going on, whether holidays booked or family responsibilities. Timing seems off this year, for some reason, or perhaps there's just a lot of stuff going on with folk.

In what way? Geographically closer to every single team in the play-offs. City not on total lockdown due to Jubilee celebrations, no public transport strikes/travel constraints and a capacity that exceeds 50,000. Also an actual football stadium.

Not entirely. There’s some sort of mass celebration going on in London. It would never have been at anfield anyway. The correct decision would’ve (should’ve) been a choice of villa park, hillsbrough, etihad, elland road, Coventry, pride park or city ground. Even the likes of Stoke, wolves, sheff Utd and (dare I even say it) franchise fc have grounds that are more than adequate to host a game on this scale.

The top 7 were almost entirely predictable and almost certain to be populated by northern/midland teams in the main. Somewhere like Pride Park Derby, or the King Power, Leicester would have been perfect, and driveable in a few hours for both sets of fans, cutting costs significantly and giving more people the chance to afford the occasion. Also, and I don’t know the capacities of those 2 stadiums but would guess at approx 30-35K, there would be a fuller stadium and better atmosphere, as well as a better view of the game. Just an NL shambles all round.

If we hit the 15k mark it’ll be an insane effort from every single person involved, whether that’s ticket purchaser, charity or donation from other clubs - mainly the legends down at Wrexham.
Christ. Even taking 12500 as it stands is a monumental effort

Excellent. Underneath that article is the BBC report on the Wrexham match. Big picture at the start of Paul Mullin scoring, in the middle there is a picture of the Wrexham owners. At the end is a report on the match by the Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson.
I think Grimsby took part as well. If we had lost would we get this specific coverage? The report on the match itself is as fair and balanced as it can to capture everything that happened.

you could take it as a good omen. the same thing happened when we beat Kevin Keegan's Fulham in the play off semi final.i remember it well. There was a quarter/third page report in one of the broadsheets that mentioned Grimsby once in their coverage of our home victory and progress to the final.
let's hope the same holds true on Sunday
