Nearly as bad as the Cheapside training complex!

Not a brain cell amongst the previous regime to call it something different other than after the address where it is situated.

Player x - welcome to Grimsby Town - let's have a photo with the Cheapside sign nice and prominent.

The last 18 team photos should have been taken under that sign.

If this was a horse race they'd call it the Desperation Stakes...

'I walked in the dressing room. The window was open and I thought that a sea fret had got in. Then I saw smoke billowing from a pipe in the corner of the room...it was my centre-forward. He looked seven stone wet through. He went on to score thirty-odd goals that season.' Lawrie McMenemy on encountering the legend that was Matt Tees.

These kind of sponsors are a funny one though because the media and the clubs must use the official name but football fans will still call it the Bescot Stadium.

I used to always get mad at my Great Uncle for saying "The Findus" but then when it changed from John Smiths I couldn't get on board with it; for years it was still The Upper and Lower Smiths to me. We went through a phase where it became Findus again which is what I call it now despite it having been the Young's Stand for a few years.

If a company is willing to have naming rights for Blundell Park then we would be a fool not to take their money but for most of us fans, it will always be Blundell Park.

To be honest, I much prefer having a proper name for the ground. When new grounds are built, it’s easy to remember the first sponsor, but by the second or third you’ve completely lost track of it eg Huddersfield, Bolton, Colchester.

I agree with you, but unfortunately we live in a commercial world , and this sounds a good deal for Walsall, fair play to them. Their fans haven’t got a connection with the Bescot anyway.

It wouldn’t surprise me if our owners could get something similar in place, whereas the last joker wouldn’t have had a clue how to generate this sort of additional income. Even if he had, it would have gone to him, after all, GTFC owed him £2m for those 4 relegations, did you know that?

As The Bescot is an up rated version of Glanford Park are Scunthorpe renaming theirs the "20p Stadium" ?
