We've had no end of dubious reds against us, as have every team. It happens, move on.

This time it went in our favour.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more ridiculous red card in football than Scott Neilson’s at Gateshead in the playoffs.

Given the circumstances, it was karma.

Looked deserving of a red but I've seen yellows given for those lots of times, they'll feel hard done by because the ref could have just booked him but it's down to the ref's own choice, as we have learned many times before.

Having watched the highlights it's clearly the correct decision. Efete gets the ball first, Sarcevic misses it and puts his studs through Efete's ankle. Serious foul play which endangered an opponent, so it has to be a red card, and anyone suggesting otherwise doesn't understand the laws of the game. If you lunge in like that you're always risking a straight red if you make contact with the player instead of the ball.

I thought harsh from the Lower on the day, but slowing the highlights, studs up to ankle is clear - yes definite red.

It was right in front of me and I agree with Hurst’s opinion in that they both went for the ball and Efete got there first and was caught. Harsh but if you catch someone with your studs high then you give the ref a chance to send you. Luke Waterfall was quickly into the ref indicating he’d stamped at him which is shíthousery but only what we have been on the end of. We needed anything to go in our favour at that point as we were nowhere near being in the game.

Quoted from Poojah

If you watch it again once the highlights are uploaded, you’ll see that he checks on Efete before immediately pulling out the red card. It’s as if he was looking for evidence that the tackle had caused injury before making a final call, so perhaps some credit is deserved for his acting skills.

From where I was sat, around 20 yards away, the tackle did look high and slightly late, however the appeals for a sending off were by no means the most intense I’ve heard and I was still a little surprised to see the flash of red emerge from the ref’s pocket.
