Was Hunt really attack minded? I haven't seen many games, but the ones I have he seemed to collect the ball deep and try to spread it about quickly. Didn't see him making all that much impact high up the pitch except for set pieces which he was very good at.

He was in the sense that he would be the one looking for the ball whenever we had possession, in order to dictate play and keep the game ticking over. Contrast that with Giles Coke, who is primarily there to win the ball and then keep it simple.

All of those players I mentioned are different. From that, admittedly limited footage, he looks possibly the most attack minded of all of them.

A smooth sea never made a skillful mariner.

You'd think that it would add flexibility. McAtee obviously likes to drop deep to receive the ball on occasion - possibly too often - but hopefully, Holohan (if he signs) will be pushing forward and linking up with him in more attacking areas. Our central midfielders haven't exactly been chucking themselves forward to get into the box (goals scored by all of our central midfielders combined this season = 3 or 4), so adding a threat from a different part of the field would be useful.

I don't know whether this is to bolster the squad for a push this season or for next seasons planning ( as previous reported about next seasons contracts) but he will be a signing and not a loanee. Loan players are great to fill gaps in an emergency but I prefer a squad of fully signed players.

For me if this is true I'm hoping it's Hurst going slightly more attacking and playing 1 cdm and 2 attacking rather than the other way around. Reckon he'll do this at home games but then 2 cdms away from home.

Sounds like a good signing on paper, certainly will offer something going forward. We're going to need better than the limited combo of Burgess and Coke if we're to get promoted. Although they both have their uses and work hard, both of them in midfield makes us very turgid.

The signing of Jones was announced minutes before his debut so I wouldn't read too much into the lack of any confirmation.
