I’ve just found £10 in the street, I am wondering what to do with it?

1. Do I waste it on iplayer and watch the demise of the Scunts.

2. Buy a box of chocolates for the wife and a six pack for me!

I don't think we should look to laugh at any football club that has hit hard times, we are all football fans, we all support England, we at Grimsby Town have had 20 years of disaster, so excuse me if i don't find Scunthorpe's plight amusing, remember the old adage, he who laughs first laughs last.

Think back to our 'hard times' in the 09/10 campaign and last season. Quite a lot of their fans found our 'plight' very amusing.

Well .... they laughed first ...... and by the looks of things ...... they will finish last!

Sorry, but having heard Swann say that ‘I’m nothing like Fenty’ and then watched his club capitulate in the way that mirrors what happened to us, I find it ducking hilarious.

No chance. They flagged the 180 with 'I hope your club dies' when we got relegated at Burton, they absolutely drunk themselves at us last year despite their own warning signs. Believe me, I live, work, and grew up for the most part in Scunthorpe. Would 'lets all be football fans together' have anything to do with having Chelsea in your name by any chance?

Personally, I'm loving Scunts demise. Even Paul Hayes was taking the urine on twitter at 'the lack of GTFC' in the football league at the start of this season. They're awful, they've been blind to their own problems whilst laughing extensively at ours, and they can get phucked.

Interesting that Oldham, who at one point looked as gone as Scunny, are beginning to drag their bottom out of it. It’s currently Scunny and our old friends Stevenage occupying the relegation spots.

Couldn’t happen to two nicer clubs.

Alex Hunt’s hardly getting a look in at Oldham which I definitely didn’t expect.

Agree about Stevenage though, would get more joy from seeing them go down than Scunny.

I dread to think how much that book would cost without wanting to devalue the product.
Also interesting that the pitch in the background isn't pitted with fox holes and that ball looks round.......🤔...publisher stock photo I guess.

It costs an absolute fortune and leaves you angry and frustrated by the time it’s over, but on the plus side, finance options include a benign loan repayable in 20 years worth of hellish instalments and comes with a free ConocoCap™, a Barry Conlon shower hat and all the pipe dreams a man could ever wish for.

I’d add to that, that I’d like the entire population of Scunthorpe to simultaneously stand on an upturned plug (different ones, obviously, for logistical reasons), drowning the town in a collective, gutteral howl, as if a giant wolf were giving birth nearby, sparking a forever unsolved scientific phenomena known for generations only as the ‘great Scunthorpe plug mystery’.

I’m a nice enough bloke, and I’d like to think we’re only talking ‘mild threat’ here in cinematic terms. Nothing too drastic.

To be honest, I cannot wait to read that book. The second edition, with a postscript by Peter Swann. On how he sold a ground, twice, took Gainsborough Trinity to oblivion, and within ten years later, did the same to the Scunts!

I can see the banner on the A180 being prepared as we speak , a good few weeks to think of a decent comeback . Know a few Town fans who would try and go one better , not sure where else it could be hung from though

Not only that. We need local competition.  Our little armpit of England, is devoid of quality football.  It would be better if we were all doing well - with Town on top of course. It's those rivalries that create the the best moments.  I've never been in a crowd like the one when I was a Sheffield derby. The city was buzzing all day.   Of course, we will never get to those heights but..

I can’t stand scunny but I don’t want them to fall apart completely.

I’d prefer to play them than Lincoln, but they are in a state that is similar to us in our first relegation, May be worse to some extent.

I’m supporting a school in scunny at the minute and not a single person is a scunny fan, staff or kids. That’s rare, even for small clubs like us and them.

I see the Scunny public are getting behind their team to support them in their hour of need. A massive 2009 at their game last night.

They’re definitely going down in a worse state than we did first time around, I’d say. On the pitch, we at least managed to take it to the last day somehow. Scunny certainly won’t be doing that, and could yet go down with a League Two record low points total - having won only 1 in their last 15, it’s difficult to see them picking up many more points from here.

Off the pitch, who knows. Though some of our previous years in non-league had shambolic moments, and the first season in particular wasn’t great, there was never a sense of financial instability. It never felt existential.

Who knows what lies in store for them?

Plus the fact their fans aren't turning up for relegation six pointers with less than 2000 of them there last night. You have to question how many will turn up to see Weymouth beat them 1-0. Difficult times ahead for the Scunts.
