I'd take a draw if we can follow it up with a win at Yeovil.

For me a minimum 2 points from the next two games, I'm hoping for 6, expect 4, but think we will get 3. Which isn't disastrous. Yeovil are doing well atm and Southend are an in form team.

Think we need to average 2 points per game to hit the play offs from now. Big ask.

How is our position significantly different to say Notts County or Solihull who are 1 & 2 pts ahead of us? Keep in touch through to Easter then it’s a decent run in.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think we’ll win any of the next 3 but I have been wrong before on this very forum, so we live in hope. Southend unbeaten in 12 in the league, not lost at home since mid November.

Then again, Yeovil are on a run of 1 win in 14 & 18th overall in the “home” table. There’s half a chance there

It’s wide open in my opinion, and we’re not the only ones with a tricky run-in. Boreham Wood for instance, somehow, still have both us and Wrexham to play twice and four out of their next five games are against Wrexham, Chesterfield, Notts County and Town. They’ll also be playing Saturday / Tuesday right the way up to Easter, at which point they have to play two games over the long weekend.

Have a look at Notts County’s fixture list - their next 8 are against current top half opposition, 5 of them away.

I still think it could be any 6 from the sides currently placed 2-9 (though it would take some capitulation from Chesterfield to fall out of the picture entirely). The key is going to be winning the games which look more favourable, and losing the absolute minimum against the sides around us - of which we still have Boreham Wood x2 and Solihull (h) still to play (plus Stockport who are champions elect in my opinion).

It’s natural to fixate on your own circumstances, but run-in-wise ours looks more favourable than most. Here’s how many current top 9 sides each of the contenders have to face between now and the end of the season:

Town: 5
Chesterfield: 6
Wrexham: 7
Halifax: 5
Boreham Wood: 8
Solihull: 8
Notts County: 5
Bromley: 6

This is quite advantageous for Town, not least because of the sheer amount of points guaranteed to be dropped by those around us. Of course, much will come down to our own performances and results, but things look as promising right now as they have done for weeks, if not months.

Think the Borehamwood fixtures are critical. Hopefully we’re somewhere near full strength by then.

So Boreham Wood have 8 of the top 9 to play and play 2 of those twice? That would mean that 10 of their last 17 games are against the top 9.

Notts are away at Solihull tomorrow which means if we win against Southend it will definitely put us in the play-off positions tomorrow night. Wrexham are at home to Boreham Wood tomorrow night too.

No, the 8 accounts for playing teams twice as ours is on 5 there which includes Borehamwood twice.

End of the day, if we do our business it won't matter about anyone else.  Teams will drop points regardless.

That said it's bloody impossible to not look at the table and start working permutations out isn't it?

Borehamwood look, on paper, the biggest danger even to the title, never mind the play-off picture.  But I think after their cup exploits they might just fizzle away a bit.  They won't be the first side to see their season fall apart after a cup run and they're left with a fair bit of catch-up to do

Their manager was talking about players needing injections to get on the pitch against Everton. All of a sudden there isn't that need to keep your place to play in front of the cameras at a Premier League ground so I do think they will suffer a hangover of some description. They also have more games against their promotion rivals than anyone else in the race so the consequences of those games are a lot bigger for them. It will be interesting to see where they are in a few games time.

Yep, that’s right. I did phrase it a little clumsily in fairness; it’s “games against top 9 sides”.

So are we……we are the in form team they should be worrying about us I don’t think we are playing particularly well but we are grinding out results that’s a sign of a never say die/good team and the points keep tallying up, hopefully we can keep this run going UTM
