I’m not sure that the football authorities will do anything sanction-wise. Chelsea probably largely finance themselves through commercial activity and TV money now. Let’s face it Chelsea fans are either long term ones who still can’t believe their luck and gloryhunters who couldn’t care less how success is bought - it’s unlikely they’d demonstrate against him. Even if away fans boycotted Stamford Bridge the aforementioned commercial success means that Chelsea probably won’t miss the cash. A shame really.

I’m not quite so pessimistic about them LH. They did protest against the European super league idea. And as they are largely self sustaining, they don’t need Abramovich.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

I suppose but anything he does put through the club is cleaned nicely for him so it’s not like he’s going to give it away and if he did some middle eastern royal family who stone and lash people will come in anyway given how high the cost would be. The game at that level - is lost, I’m afraid to say.

Probably right, but if you’re going to have friends of despots running clubs, at least have ones who are on our side.

Abramovich is now only allowed into the country due to his Israeli citizenship I seem to remember reading somewhere recently? They've already cracked down on him because he's the wrong type of oligarch  apparently.

On the other hand, one of the oligarchs pictured meeting with Putin in Moscow today is reportedly the owner of the second biggest mansion in London after Buckingham Palace. Perhaps he's the 'right' sort of dodgy Russian billionaire?

I’ve said this all along, sanctions aren’t somewhat futile and in this case, hypocritical when the leading party has been handed vast sums of cash from those oligarch’s.

As for Chelsea, I still get a sense that for some people they believe the premiership bubble will burst, we’ve been waiting 20 years and nothing. Chelsea are fundamentally sustainable without Romans money, yes they needed it in the first instance but then so does every club when new owners come in, if he left tomorrow, aside from another obscenely rich person coming in and buying them, they’d do alright…

Are Chelsea really self-sufficient? Roman has put £1.5b into Chelsea with another £20m being put in, in June 21.

Ultimately, without the financial input from the owner, they would struggle to compete with the other big English clubs because Stamford Bridge is two thirds of the size of the Arsenal and Spurs grounds, 25% smaller than the grounds of Liverpool and Man Citeh and not too far away from half the size of Old Trafford. TV megabucks aside, that's going to make a big difference to the amount of revenue they can generate from bums on seats. The ground is a similar size to that of Villa Park and we've seen them bobbing around in mid-table for a while, after they managed to get back into the PL. That level is the traditional status of Chelsea - 3rd largest London club. West Ham aim to challenge that status in the longer term as well, given the blinding deal they got with the London Stadium - I think they have similar capacity for matches as Arsenal and Spurs?

Yes. But I’m pretty sure the loans are benign. So if he leaves I’m sure he won’t demand the money back as it would be detrimental to the running of the club.

And that would make him an utter utter utter girl private !!

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'
