15 goals in 173 games ticks the box for a typical GTFC striker!!

i've got a funny feeling we have been linked with him before

Striker with an inconsistent scoring record? I’ll be sure to give this thread, and it’s inevitable direction, a big ol’ swerve then.

Any chance you’re confusing him with the equally difficult to pronounce Armand Gnanduillet?

He’s not inconsistent

He regularly scores no goals in a season

Just hope he either brings the whole team play into effect or gets better or both

He last scored a league goal in August 2019. In the time since he has made 38 league appearances.

I’m not sure what type of striker he is, but he’s definitely not “prolific”.

His scoring record doesn't look great, but I wonder how many starts he has made. If many of his appearances are just the last few minutes of games then the strike rate becomes far less significant. You can't score goals from the subs bench. I also wonder how many assists he might have. He sounds like a player who needs some significant game time at National League level to show what he can do. Hopefully this will be good for player and club.

Doesn't make sense.
We have Abrahams on loan who hasn't been given a proper run out yet.
As a striker he has a poor record.
Why?

McAtee and Taylor between them are close to 20 and we've still got 15 games of the season to go. All we need is for a few others like Sousa, Abrahams, Clifton, Efete (!!) and maybe this new fella, to keep chipping in.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love someone to come in and score a dozen goals to help us win promotion. But it's not the only way to make the top 7.

If you’re bored of shamelessly biased highlights reels with high tempo dance music in the background, this might just be for you. I’ve only watched the first minute and a half and I think he’s only touched the ball once and failed to win at least three headers.

Well let's give him a chance eh ?
Scannel, Grant , LJL have hardly made any mark on the season so if this guy is injury free and plays even only 4 or 5 games and occupies an opposition player then he will have been of more use and as such an improvement.

Yes, BPMariner.

Posts very infrequently but is usually spot on.

With Lenny going out, we are one down in the striker department, so makes sense to me. Maybe someone to chuck on in a game like the Kings Lynn one and go a bit more direct.

Looking at that show reel, he seems like a player that helped Salford through non league, but has probably fallen down the pecking order as they have risen higher.

I'll reserve judgement until he's played a few.

Makes a lot of sense. Replace a striker that doesn`t score (Lenny) with another that doesn`t score ( Dieseruvwe).
That is a like for like change that I suppose we are obligated to do through some FA regulation.

But, hey... I am usually a positive guy, so I will give Emmanuel Dieseruvwe every cance to prove himself here. I hope he will be a great success and that he finds his inner Robert Lewandowski in himself while he is here.
All the best, Emmanuel!

I wonder if a Chief Scout that recently worked down the A16 at Boston has something to do with this?

Richard Boryszczuk was Chief Scout at Boston for 9 years (with a 6 month spell in the middle at Southport under Kevin Davies). Dieseruvwe had a loan spell at Boston before he went to Salford.

I wonder if we are widening our scouting network now someone relatively local has become available...

Like every other signing we’ve had.
I’ll live in hope. I’ll also judge him when I actually see him play.
So let’s see what he actually brings to this squad. Hopefully contributing  enough to help get us in a play off place.

That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

I remember the gossip re Maguire-Drew pre getting on the pitch, and we have missed him for the last 5 matches.

Abrahams - physical and quick, but no goals yet.

Moved Lenny on to get games elsewhere, so another squad forward needed going to season end.

If this signing, when confirmed officially, can boost the squad, then so be it.

Hurst is finding out of favour players, and giving them a chance, hopefully with Town then gaining from the player's " I'll prove em wrong " attitude.

Vardy type rough diamonds now seem to demand silly money, which Town are not prepared to pay, and upset the  other squad players by single larger salaries.

So.... no huge expectations, but give the lad a chance if confirmed !!

Maybe he will be on the bench to come on when we are chasing the game and their centre halves look too comfortable, to give them something else to think about.

To all the people saying, why have we replaced one striker who can't score with another who can't score perhaps it's a case of replacing one striker who can't score or trap the ball or hold it up or pass it or win it with a striker who can't score but can at least do those other bits. Anyone suggesting that loaning Lenny out and rolling the dice on any other option is a bad idea clearly hasn't seen Lenny this season. He's been woeful.

Not by me, I remember him running the game when we played Stockport at their ground.

I remember first time I saw big Keith at Scunny - had a moderate scoring record all in long league. Didn’t look like he could control his legs never mind the ball, I wondered wtf have we signed here. Scored a bobbling equaliser that seemed to bounce off his shins and that set the tone for his one goal in just under 4 for us. These days he would have been credited with a fair few assists as well.

A new Keith would be great option for us…

I was at his debut. When I got home my dad asked what he was like and I said he can’t run, he can’t jump and he can’t header, other than that he’s pretty good! This was back in the day when I used to sit on the barrier at the front of the Findus - use to love how close Big Keith was to the touch line at kick off and the chats he would be having with the fans as the game started.

Would love another Big Keith but there was only one.

Scunny game was a week later and those were my thoughts, save that he somehow managed to score. Of course, at that point we didn't know about the force field around him, defenders simply couldn't get near the ball, even though he needed several touches to bring it under control...

Was that the game at the OSG when we drew 2 all and Paul Reece saved a penalty. I can remember Big Keef hitting the ball towards the goal and all the Town fans groaning as it looked like it was going well wide, but it somehow managed to curve round and go in off the inside of the post.

Season before. Strangely subdued game. Their third at Glanford Park. Scunny were favourites to go up having missed out inthe play-offs the season before and had won every game up to that. Police insisted on it being all ticket for Town even though we were getting sub 3k crowds at that point. I hadn’t got one so went in the Scunny terrace and got let through to Town seats. We only had about 800 there and Scunny far from filled the home stands. Once our cup run started our fans came back and Scunny failed in the play-offs again.

I do not get the negativity with this, glad to see him here. I though against Kings Lynn we needed a tall striker as an option and I wish out our new striker all the best. We need options on the bench and Salford were not bad a couple of years ago - strikes me as worth a go. utm

Well it doesn’t take a rocket scientist. He’s a striker who averages about 2 goals a season. Fans of his last club have labelled him one of the worst to ever play for the club.

Must be an incredible player

No rush for The Shop to return now, then.

Let's hope that he can achieve something to aid the team going forward.

He certainly talks well, but the proof will come on the field and his words will need to turn into action.

No one expects a new Connell or Amond, but if he clicks, it may be just what is needed as a powerful alternative to Taylor as teams tire.

He sounds like he wants a 1st team place, so he will have to earn it,  Could be an interesting run in.

I don’t remember Big Keith being a natural header of the ball. He scored a few (Wimbledon obv) but more often than not would go up for balls and bring his head down as he challenged.

Thankfully he also had a habit of dribbling the ball the length of the pitch and scoring. Loved him.

Big Keef had the uncanny knack of going on long mazy runs where the opponents didn't have a clue what he was going to do. Thing is, I'm not sure Keef even knew himself! 😁

I think it’d be slightly naive not to be concerned about this signing given the fact the large majority of comments from people who have watched him are negative.

Doesn’t mean he won’t click here but I’m certainly not getting my hopes up.

Trying to be positive on Emmanuel Aghogho Oluwafemi Dieseruvwe but if you look at Wiki, he just gets moved on, and on, and on...
I suppose he will be best used standing on the oppos penalty spot whilst our wingers aim at his head.
But honestly, I think he's related to Ali Dia,

So, let's give him a chance, it's only a game.

Red cross away but it’s a pointless signing.

Is this really the best we can do?

You can generally tell how a player will do looking at their record and the comments from fans of the club he is coming from.

Look at the strikers our rivals pull out of the bag, and we bring this lad in.

He’ll play a slack handful of minutes coming off the bench, score no goals and be back at Tranmere in May.

Where’s the ambition?  How are we building for the future?

Wow, I hope new signings don’t read the Fishy. Admittedly it’s not the most exciting signing on paper, but god, give the guy a chance. He’s not kicked a ball here yet.

He might be crap, and a poor signing. Not denying that, but let’s see him play before we completely write him off.

Totally agree. Sometimes the negativity on this forum beggars belief. #UTM

I’ll never understand how people can moan like intercourse about a player they’ve never seen play. It’s just pathetic.

Hang on a minute, I've re-read the comments, and actually, nobody is moaning. They (I'm) are simply pointing out the bleeding obvious that in 220 outings (various) he scored 26 goals. Also, everyone who signed him loaned him out. Now he's on loan to Grimsby. He's 26 so not a newbie but a finished article.
Nobody says we shouldn't have signed him, but it's no good pretending he's a Ronaldo or Henry in disguise either.
It's a discussion, not a put-down, nor should it be a blind disregard of the obvious.

I rated Jamille Matt when he played for us and he only scored 4 goals in 34 games, he's not done too bad since he left us.

Give the lad a chance.

Imagine if the fishy had been around when that has-been from Halifax signed for us, that went on to become one of the best players we’ve seen in a town shirt.

Agreed. Absolute waste of money. Rather have saved it and used it for next season. Efete is a better goal scorer from right back.

Must have seen 30+ comments from previous clubs at this point and not any positive.

To be fair doubt most players these days know internet forums still exist and probably just read social media comments

No but it’s putting negative slant on it as the guy hasn’t even played 1 game for us yet. Let’s make a decision on him when he’s played a game or two please. #UTM

Fine, have it your way, all I can gather is that some of you live in Cleeps, near the beach, so you can stick your head in the sand.

Personally, if PH is that desperate, why not grab one of our youngsters, let him warm the bench.
E.g. Callum Stratton, he's pacey enough.

The Salford fans seem to rate him. this is a typical post from when he left to sign for Tranmere:

"Good luck to him. I hope he does well there except when he plays against us and I hope also that he gets a good reception from the Salford fans for the valuable contributions that he made to our club. Whatever his faults he never gave anything less than 100 per cent, played his heart out and always with a smile on his face. Key moments will of course be him scoring our first goal in the National League play off final against AFC Fylde as well as setting up our third and final goal, scoring our first ever two EFL goals in our 2-0 season opening win against Stevenage, converting a penalty in last seasons Papa John's Trophy penalty shoot out win against Portsmouth, scoring the third goal against his old club Kidderminster Harriers when we drew their 4-4 after trailing by four goals with just 10 minutes remaining. All major contributions for which he should be very proud"

"I'm sure gonna miss singing his "Do, Do, Do ... " song"
(Duke of Earl tune maybe?) not sure how to pronounce his name but generally known as Mani

The only stats that count as far as we are concerned are, he has made 2 appearances and scored 1, that goal vitality important in keeping our mini run going and closed in on the play-offs.
How important that goal might be, only time will tell.

If the goal he scored ends up being the  difference between us securing a play-off place or not then he was worth signing, even if he doesn't score again.

Ended up being a sh!t signing didn’t he that bloke who had a 1 in 10 record.

Lovely to see him playing with a smile on his face as well. From what I’ve heard he’s an infectious character in the dressing room. Scored some very important goals and 2 so far in the playoffs, think his hold up play has been exceptional aswell. This is why to never judge a book by its cover, even if we don’t end up signing Mani on a permanent he’s given me memories that will last a lifetime.

I’m not one to lay into new signings before they’ve kicked a ball but I have to hold my hands up and say I was underwhelmed to Jon Nolan-esque levels when this one was announced.

What an impact he’s had. I’m not quite sure what his minutes per goal record is but it’s certainly well under 90; Kabongo Tshimanga is on 100 for context.

He’s scored some huge goals going right back to his last minute winner in his home debut against Woking, and his general performances have got better and better with each game. Is it any fluke that he appears to be playing the best football of his career for Town, or did Hurst see something to unlock in him that others couldn’t? I suspect it may be the latter.

Watched at home...
I'm a big Hurst fan, but he got everything spot on last night.
High press, which i feared we would run out of steam in the 2nd half, clearly not!!!
Even down to the subs, which Twitter was in meltdown, as of course, should of been earlier....

You should never fall in love with a loan player, but when Dieseruvwe said 'i've just flipping thrown myself at it', i did just that! What a guy
He's actually scored 6 goals in 424 minutes, which is a goal every 70minutes of football.... and a lot of them minutes have been less than 20 from the bench.... Tranmere slated him, but he's made a huge difference without standing out IMO.

I'm worried about being without Fox in the winter next season when he gets called up by Southgate... league 1 performance from him last night.
However, he only signed a 1 year deal, and he's only 23!!!! get that one sorted please

Sousa - If he had that end product, he would be 2/3 leagues above... So please don't moan when he's gone past 3 and been wasteful, because the next time he goes past 3, he gets us a foul.

I posted this after the Notts County game - a goal every 70 minutes.

After Wrexham, its now - 7 goals in 470 minutes, which is a goal every 67 Minutes and as i say above, a lot are from the bench!
In fact, he's only started 3 games, and only played the full 90 once! in which he scored a hat-trick....

He's now our joint 3rd top scorer

Haarland contracted to sign for City to play with McAtee.  If a contractual error, maybe signs to play with a McAtee at another club? 😌

The  NL paper this Sun had an article about a young, promising striker with a top class pedigree.  21 year old Michael Gyasi.  He scored a stunning hat trick for Dover this year at Wrexham.  On loan from King’s Lynn.  (Both relegated),

He is talented, fast and hardworking.  Chelsea paid a lot of money for him at aged 11.  Since went to Leicester Academy.

Sounds an early and late developer.  Chesterfield and top Scottish club after him,
