Cant believe that nobody has posted a tribute to this stalwart after 19 years of unselfish and devoted service to gtfc
I'm not quite sure how the club and team will cope with his departure

One or 2 unkind voices have opined its 18.5 years too late, but I'm sure this will become a very long thread as posters pay tribute and list the achievements at the club for which he is responsible

Probably his best horse was Non Vintage who finished 4th in the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival back in the day.but typical of MC he over raced it(just like all his horses)

To say some of his horses recently has raced is pushing it I think.

Watched a couple of races with his horses in and they have basically just ambled along and get pulled up before they have even completed one circuit!

Agree with that, even his runner today "Fast Deal" was beaten at Market Rasen today by 32 length, price 100/1, managed 5th place with a £350 place money.

I would say this will be gratefully received to cover stable costs.

To say he is a " racehorse trainer" with his record since the start of the 2018 season being 83 runners with only one winner and that being in 2018
.
He's described by Aldi_01 as being one of the "irrelevant dinosaurs" very true words in both his questionable professions.

I heard a while back that he loaned the club £50k years ago and that's why he stayed on the board because if he left, he wasn't entitled to it back in a hurry due to the rules that the club changed having got burned by Ramsden I think it was.

Looks like that got paid when 1878 rolled in as the Directors loans were £1,550,000 in 2020, nil in 2021 with £1,500,000 being owed to Fenty.

Either way, I don't actually know what he did or brought to the table.

I worked with someone who had a horse with him.

It ran once only, in a 3 mile race, and was pulled up after a mile. Kind of sums up his impact at GTFC.

19 years as a director of the club; something many of us would love to do and all he gets is 2 short sentences announcing his departure. Almost 24 hours later, nobody has actually offered any input as to what he offered. Sums up why we've been so poor for so long to be honest.

With your superior inside knowledge pen, perhaps you could illuminate us as what he did actually do in those 19 years? Coz 3 pages in we still haven't heard anything positive

I don't know what he did, but I do know that he had his own opinion and it often wasn't in line with Fenty. Don't think he turned up to many board meetings in the later years, so he probably had little influence on anything for a while.

So literally served zero purpose…challenged Fenty so much he didn’t turn up. Not come out, publicly and resign highlighting what many of us knew but instead, sat on the board and did nothing…

Interesting that not one of those knowledgeable posters have commented or corrected this.

In the last couple of decades, most board members have been visible in some way, even if for a dispute with our former principal funder, or an infamous incident at a fans forum, or for winning money, investing  and ending up at Alfreton.   But this guy, wow, I have no idea who he is. I mean I heard he is involved in horses but to my knowledge I've never met him.  No proper explanation as to why he was involved.

I would have rather have had 19 fans on the board for a year each instead than him for 19 years.

If it say getyourfactsright three times does he emerge and explain all?

Michael will be sadly missed by all board members as he made a lovely cup of tea when he did attend.

We are on the fourth page now and the closest we've got to establishing what he offered was that he often disagreed with Fenty but never turned up to put those views across.

Which basically means he offered nothing. Any sane town fan disagreed with Fenty but we probably visited blundell park more times than Chapman.

I know nothing about him and don’t wish to post negatively about him until I do. What a pity Fenty has selective posting, it would be nice to get the inside knowledge on him.

I would agree with that if he was a new director,  let's wait to find out about him etc.

The guy spent 19 (nineteen) years as a director, and as far as we know(let's face it hard core mariners fans,  some like myself have dedicated hours of volunteering to the trust or the club or fanzines and certainly forums) he did little or nothing.

it's telling no one has anything good to say, but I found something, his longevity as a director gives us an example of what not to allow happen ever again to our club and its board!

😆

The late Swin would have said, he was surplus to requirements after the Trust got a place on the board. 😉
