It’s a football forum, if you don’t like it, go elsewhere

Exactly it is a forum, therefore he is entitled to his opinion as much as anyone else on said subject.

Also it is actually a Grimsby Town fan's forum to be precise.

They are exactly like we were last season. They've been heading this way for a few years now and I suspect they'll finish bottom half in the national league next season.

I'll go further, such is the mess they are in, I can see them doing a Stockport and dropping down again. Can't see them getting a saviour to save them with Swan wanting all his money back and then he will still own their ground.

And Grimsby Town fans discuss a wide range of football topics on here that aren't exclusive to Grimsby Town.

Scunthorpe will, in a few years, be a Gainsborough. Just another Lincolnshire club floating around in non-league.

Their only hope of returning to the Football League will be some other clueless sugar daddy willing to spaff extraordinary amounts on a club that can never hope to repay it, or through very clever stewardship and decision-making from new owners with their heads screwed on — like Lincoln, but even then, they're a club that had potential crowds of 8k+.

What have Scunny got, really? At least at Town, we can be competitive at the top end of the National League based on 5k crowds.

Let’s not forget that PeteSake took Gainsborough Trinity to the Swanny!

He’s doing the same with the Scunts.

Scunny's probably got the same amount of potential as us and Lincoln.  It's just a case of someone tapping into it.  I don't think anyone imagined Lincoln would have seen such an upsurge in both success on the field and increased support.  Scunny's gates have dwindled in recent years because of the same reasons ours did, people became drunk off with the product and within that the regime.

Lincoln weren't this sleeping giant that had a fanbase in waiting, they went out and found new fans and engaged them.  Any club can do that.  Scunny and the surrounding areas is of a decent population size.  Just like us and just like what they've actually done down the A46, if someone gets it right then there's a lot to go at.

Just not true. Look at the respective histories. No comparison.

But what has history got to do with either the present or the future?

Our history absolutely dwarfed Bournemouth until about 10 years ago.   Yet they're the ones who enjoyed relative success in the Premier League and are looking set to return.

Closer to home, until 20 years ago Hull could only look on enviously at our position and history.  Now look at the gulf.
