Because the tests are played in the middle of the night here it gives me a big excuse not to watch them.

I may just have to adopt the same approach Pete-it’s just depressing!

I don't think anyone really expected us to do anything but get a drubbing in this Ashes series, did they? I know there's always hope, but pretty obvious we weren't likely to do anything given the weakness in Test batting in recent years. The fielding has been shocking, however.

I didn’t expect anything other than a series defeat but I do expect to see application, guts, fight and a competitive edge.
We’ve got selection wrong in both tests and we look desperate too often under Roots ‘captaincy’ with strange usage of bowlers and field settings.
Too often we send out the wrong message and a team like the Aussies  in their back yard sniff that out and are ruthless.

Now we've seen off the Aussies initial flurry, I expect us to rack up the runs over the next couple of days before declaring with 20 overs to go on day 4. Fairly confident of an innings victory, although, I'm realistic enough to realise we may have to chase a small target on day 5.

We're more likely to drop them.

Who are you replacing him with? Genuine question because whilst he's clearly technically floored and not good enough he's also our second leading run scorer in 2021. I can't see a better option which is very reflective of where we are.

They keep teasing us by being competitive for the odd session here and there!
