I know there's always hope, but pretty obvious we weren't likely to do anything given the weakness in Test batting in recent years. The fielding has been shocking, however.

I didn’t expect anything other than a series defeat but I do expect to see application, guts, fight and a competitive edge. We’ve got selection wrong in both tests and we look desperate too often under Roots ‘captaincy’ with strange usage of bowlers and field settings. Genuine question because whilst he's clearly technically floored and not good enough he's also our second leading run scorer in 2021. I can't see a better option which is very reflective of where we are.
