No not football. Lawn tennis. Great win for Raducanu in the US Open final.

I don’t like watching tennis either, but gotta take your hat off to the girl.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.

Not really interested in tennis (though I didn't used to mind playing it back in the day), but I caught the last few games of the match and, wow, the level those two girls were playing at was incredible. Remarkable, considering how young and (relatively) inexperienced the two are.

Tim Henman looked like he was about to puke up from nerves when the camera showed him a couple of times, which I also found quite amusing!

They were both brilliant and some good old Great British shithousery helped her get there. Thoughts and prayers with Piers Morgan.

I’d forgotten about that greasy-faced, slimy, fat wánker. Makes it even better.

A fabulous quality performance against the odds.

She was class at Wimbledon.  You could see that she had everything.  British tennis knew she was going to the top.  But certainly nothing like as quick as this!!!!!

The best thing about the Shithousery was the fact the other lass started getting agitated and our lass just sat there, stone faced, had a drink, got cleaned up, gathered herself and bang!

Yes saw the game and thought Emma played really well. Having played tennis a fair bit at competitive level to a reasonable level whilst for the school team  and also for club and my local area  I know how psychological the game is. It's all about you . Probably more emotionally demanding than football . Hope her team can keep her mentally focused now and not let the hype and sponsorship that's to come affect her performances in the coming years.

One life,one love .

I loath tennis with a vengeance but credit where credit is due she’s a worthy champion who from what I’ve picked up not only has talent but great mental strength

Whether you like Andy Murray or not, you description of his Mum is way off the mark.  She is a top tennis coach and was involved in tennis before Andy and Jamie were successful.  She makes a big contribution to tennis in Scotland and the UK.

Three red crosses. Piers Moron, his mum and agent clearly read the Fishy.

Come on Moosey, I did give it a dubious football-related title.

And I’m sure, erm, that there’s some lessons footballers can learn from her success.

I did smile when I saw an 18 and a 19:year old playing like that.  Football teams have academies but we don’t play players because they need protecting.  And Bolton refused to play last year because their 19 year olds couldn’t be expected to play three matches in a week.

Perhaps the fair sex is really the stronger sex?

She’s done about as much for British tennis as Peter sutcliffe has British track and field 🔨

Nothing. If I’d meant Steve Evans I’d have said “I’d forgotten about that greasy-faced, slimy, fat, tax-fiddling wánker with eyeliner. Makes it even better.
