Scannell injury record is well documented and dreadful
It was known when Holloway signed him and has deteriorated
Skill wise he would be a league 1 player still, but we can’t rely on him to be fit.

Crazy to think he was Championship young player of the season and in the ROI squad when he was 18. Clearly he had huge potential but the injuries have curtailed his career. He’s still managed a few 100 games at Championship level though and he must have a good attitude else Hurst would have shipped him out. If he can get a run of games together he should be a very good player at this level.

absolutely, there is a very very good player in there, and we saw it very rarely last season, when he played he was superb, away at Crawley he ran the show

Bumped into Holloway at a car boot sale the other day, he was selling silly caps and pipe dreams

I'd have thought he would be selling bovine derived fertiliser. He's full of it after all.

Scannell is well worth the risk imo, if we can get him fit for even half of our games we’ll be onto a good thing.

He’s a bit of a wildcard for me. I’m not expecting anything of him and as such had almost forgot he was still here, but I recognise that if we’re able to get him playing anywhere close to his best then he is way above this level on his day.

Still only 30 (just).

Well worth persisting with Scannell.

Don't think we'll get 90 minutes for 46 games out of him.  But he could be a very useful alternative.  McAtee is, quite rightly, cementing his place at the top of that midfield, just dropping off the front man and is going to be one of, if not the, key players for us.  But there's no chance he can produce that level of intensity for the whole season without a break, especially once we end up getting into the silly season of backlogged games.  He'll need a rest and managing.

Scannell's a different type of player but if he's fit, a great alternative to throw into that position and give teams something different to think about.
