Experienced attacker Joel Grant joins on a one year deal.

Seems to have a good attitude and fantastic experience for this level, if Hurst gets Scannell and Grant firing we could have some very clever wide men

Looks a useful player at our level. Some good footballing teams on his cv.
Should still have speed and strength if he’s looked after himself

20 appearances in League One last season, and hasn’t played for a club finishing below 5th in League Two for the last 5 seasons.

Jamaican international, too. Looks a very accomplished signing for this level.

Good signing, more of a winger than a striker.  Wait for the 'He's 33, his legs have gone' brigade.

Looks like we are putting a lot of emphasis on getting the ball out wide. Scannell, Sousa, Wright and now Grant should be exciting.

I guess that depends if PH sees him as a Striker or a Winger.

Given the doubt about Grant's character after fallings out at previous clubs he's been an absolute hero and a fantastic role model to the youngsters since his arrival.  Such an important part of the dressing room and the team in general.

He is a leader on the pitch and a good bloke to have around the dressing room too.

We have a few players like that and several players have been club captains at their previous clubs, Caddis, Baudry, Conroy, Fryers, Brett, Brett, Brett, Brett Pitman, Brett Pitman and Grant was captain for Port Vale and Southend on occasions.

Lots of leaders, thats got to be great for the young lads coming through.

Well his goal tally at all his clubs certainly points more towards him being a winger rather than an out and out striker

Looks an exciting signing with lots of options up top.
Even if we play a front 3. Pick a trio out of this lot....

JOHN-LEWIS
TAYLOR
MCATEE
SCANNELL
SOUSA
WRIGHT
GRANT

and with the potential creation from the wide areas, the 20+ goalscorer could already be in the building.
Interesting that he's wearing squad number 32, still leaving 7 and 9 free still to be filled

His middle name is Valentino. Possibly the best GTFC middle name since Michael Antonio Leary.

A few quotes from some Exeter fans, although I think their views on him maybe a bit skewed as he left them and signed for their fierce local rivals Plymouth.

Quoted Text
I had my picture taken with him when he was MOM😁
He's OK nothing special but he'll do a decent job, hopefully.

Quoted Text

When he was with us he was a ‘one half decent game in five’ kind of player.

Since he left us to join argyle, he’s a traitorous c*** who should be beaten to within an inch of his life with a cricket bat.

Quoted Text
He'll pick up the ball and beat the onrushing opponents with a shimmy and a drop of the shoulder. For a moment you'll be speechless, wondering how you could possibly have a player like this on your books.

Then he'll trip over the ball and get subbed off 10 minutes later.

Quoted Text
Looks the part but then fails to deliver far too often. A poor man's Randell Williams and he failed to deliver far more often than the outside world is led to believe.

Quoted Text
Flatters to deceive! Looks like a great player but then you realise nothing he does has any end product or effect! Plus he went to the slime so he can ***** *** **** **** the ****** ****!!!!!

Very good on his day, back in the day… but he’s 34 or so now and a lot older! Very skilluful, great lad. He’s an entertainer that’s for sure.

From a mate of mine who has played with him at a couple of clubs  yeovil fans  complimentary, he was there 5 years ago, and generally positive from swindon fans where he played 20 times in league 1 for them

Yeovil fans comments

6 years since he was here so probably the wrong club to ask really. I liked him when he was here though

     ·

Chris Heath
Is he still playing? Was with Aldershot in 2008 and was quality, although lacked a bit of end product, ended up selling him to Crewe for 130k, but he will be a completely different player now.

Eddie Harding
Swindon last season I think ,check that out , didn't play much if true . I have a mate who is a Swindle town fan and he kept banging on about Grant . I think it was him . What was the question ? Swindon wanted him , but they were/are desperate!

Scott Quayle
He was a good player, but even back then he was inconsistent. Could be a real threat on his day, against a NL defence. Expect to get 5 good performances from him in a season.

Pete Zimmerman
When he was at his best he was great - used to do different things

I suspect he has been signed to unlock some of those pesky sides that will park the bus against the likes of Town.

Really glad they did that article, would have been devastated to have gone into the season having not read these high quality Tweets:

@ccalciok: Very happy with this. Welcome to the club Joel, great to have you on board.

@Cal_pafc: He’ll be alright in non-league.

Now this is one signing that really stands out for me, what a signing he is. I just cant wait for the season to start, its going to be a really special season, and im gonna find the best odds at the bookies for the title. Not for a long time have i been this excited (sorry wifey), season ticket at the ready, even though im a motorhomer and away a lot, but every penny for the Club counts for me. I just hope that Jason and Andy have invested in stronger nets for the goals, we are gonna be treated to a season to remember, Up the Blddy Mariners

10/1 at Betway is the best current odds.

I have to say I know it’s only a snapshot but the videos from the training ground look like we mean business both in terms of the training intensity and also what looks like a big jump forward in the environment.

It’s the middle of July and i think PH says he thinks we need another 3/4 additional players, usually that’s a week before the window closes isn’t it?

We even have a kit man now apparently.
