I've got a massive pie in the face coming my way along with plenty of others for doubting the way Southgate wants England play the game. He's proved me wrong big style. Such a strong manager, brings a player on then takes him off for the good of the game. What helps is that the squad is obviously much stronger and deeper than it has been for a long time and we've not had serious injury problems in the way many past England teams have. If Kane had been crocked early in the tournament, what would have happened? With the best will in the world, we don't have anyone else nearly as capable of leading the line and scoring goals. And that's including the fact that he was really sub-par for the first few games.
