As Sheffield residents for 55 years, my family have reason to be truly thankful for the services of all local NHS providers from G.P.s, Jessops Maternity, Hallamshire cancer care to myriad visits to The Children's Hospital. If Hursty is determined to go through with this venture I am sure the stats will say it is safer than my two AZ jabs.

I, for one, would not think less of him if he, and the rest of the group, swerved towards more conventional fund raising! Events like this tend to be an emotional juggernaut often driven by grief, gratitude and desire for raising standards of health for all. It does not validate a decision to put yourself to additional risk unless you are an adrenaline junkie and would do it for the thrills anyway.

If I thought either of my sons had signed up for this I'd tell them to donate generously and ask Sheffield Mayor Dan Jarvis to jump on their behalf. Walk in the park for brave guys like him.
