+1 here. Total bag of merde. Total lack of dedication from some players - silly games with managers and the board, plus no fans.

Plenty to choose from in my 50 years.
At least we weren't in the ground for this one and we have new owners, so there is some hope, but it's just typical of us that we get those new owners a season too late, with JF dragging his heels for 18 months over the buy out.
Onward and upward with the tyre kickers.

Worst standard of Division Two teams I've ever seen and we finished bottom, but thanks to Stockwood and Pettit, 2010 felt less chaotic, but much, much worse..

The first time we went down to The Conference was worse for me. There were more players in this season's team that cared and we saw a marked improvement in multiple areas on the pitch. It was just too late. If we'd have somehow managed to stay up in 09/10 it would have pretty much been single handedly down to Jamie Devitt. So many wastes of space with poor attitudes in that squad. Plus we went on that awful record breaking winless streak and we had to watch a load of idiots smashing the Pirelli up as we went down.

It's been heartbreaking. Difficult to judge if it's the worst season ever.I remember being at the Hawthorns and getting hammered under Buckley. All the fans around us were calling for him to resign and the abuse was horrific. We were in the Championship and although it was a struggle, the team showed some fight and we had players who were decent. I wonder if those fans are still around and what they would make of the current dire position we are in. Back then, we did not realise we were born. At least we gained some respect back near the end of the season and we have not suffered (thanks to no crowds?) the humiliation of fans acting violently as happened at Burton last time. If you watched Torquay v Bromley just now you realise the poor standard we are heading for. If we can find some creative midfielders and a decent striker surely we can get straight back. But it won't be pretty.

2003/4 the worst for me. Should have done well coming down into league one but we were a mess on and off the pitch. I was at Hartlepool 8-1 and Oldham 6-0. Tranmere in the last day probably remains the most gutted I have been at a town game. Good job I didn’t realise that 17 years later we’d be two leagues below and would never have returned to the THIRD tier.

In general, yes, but in terms of where we’re at in terms of the future, it’s a whole lot better than it might have been. Imagine facing the NL with you know who still in the building.

This season has been shockingly bad, memories of 2009–10 season kinda edge it for me though. The first game of the season against Crewe remains the one and only time I've left a game before the final whistle as it was an embarrassing display to watch. So many wasters in that team and so many embarrassments like losing at home to Bath City in the cup, a team we smashed just a couple of season later while playing a league lower.
I think the stories of what was going on behind the scenes makes it all the more worse, not that this season is far behind in turning the club into a massive embarrassment.

I think with hindsight, the first time we went down to the conference is the worst. That squad were a flipping disgrace, no other way to describe it. The club was a mess and we were a rudderless ship.
We did return but instantly began making the same mistakes.
This season has been awful, we’ve finished bottom in probably the worst league 2 I’ve seen. Some of the teams have been woeful yet we still finished bottom, tells you all you need to know. Thankfully, I think the fans recognise that we at least tried to give it a go and by the end we did have players who gave a excrement. We all saw them looking distraught at Exeter...that didn’t happen at Burton. Amongst the carnage of fans wrecking the gaff, the players didn’t look remotely bothered. To this day I can’t fathom why the fans didn’t go after the players and the board...why has it taken us almost another ten years before the vast majority opened their eyes to the real issues.
2003/04 was awful, there were some truly horrific results that year but I’d still say our first relegation to the conference was the worst. This year has been excrement for so many reason and has affirmed my belief that watching your club on the TV is flipping rubbish. I appreciate for some it’s the only way so it’s better than nothing but however excrement the conference is, if I’ve the option of standing in Maidenhead away end or sitting at home...it’s always gonna be the away end.

Totally agree Aldi.
Watching on my phone / tv with no fans there has made me very detached from this season. Stopped watching quite a while ago and haven’t missed it. When fans are allowed back I’m sure my interest will be back.

Watching us being sh1t at a live game is bad enough, because at least you have other distractions; boats to watch, people to talk to, going for some refreshments etc. It's a shared despair.
When you watch at home on your own in isolation, it's really depressing watching the team slide to relegation in an empty stadium and being regularly beaten by teams that aren't that good.
The drawn out Fenty saga, the barely adequate budget, the signing of low standard players, the playing out from the back, the Holloway ramblings, the May saga, the covid situation, etc etc, has made this the most bizarre season in memory, but somehow I don't feel as gutted as 2010. I feel detached from it all, but I suppose the reality will hit when we are back and the fixtures include Kings Lynn and Eastleigh.
I'm really hoping that the years of misery and gloom around the place are lifted by the new owners coming in, and we get to connect back to the club and the team. We need a season of being at the top end of the table, albeit non league, and I'm praying for a decent cup run to bring a bit of excitement.

Definitely the worst as not been able to go to a single game which is what it's all about. I honestly think it's going to be the same next season too and we'll be having this conversation same time next year. I can see the National league crumbling, going bust and leaving us in limbo. I'm not really a pessimist, more a realist and don't consider my glass half empty either because if it's half empty someone can always top it up for you.

If we were in the NL with you know who in charge it would be like those Checkatrade games all the time.

Without a doubt this was the worst season for me. Covid meant that Saturday afternoon was the only piece of normality and often the only thing that marked the weeks passing. As a result, there was so much riding on it already. Then came the actual football. I don’t think I’ve ever been angrier than the last minute goals at home to Stevenage and away at Carlisle. And that’s in 40 years of watching them.
People really needed the club this year and they weren’t there. Supporting them made it worse, sometimes unbearable.
Anyway, onwards. UTM.

I think 03/04 and 09/10 were worse, basically just felt detached from this season. A lot of games, particularly early in the season, I just turned off and forgot about.
I can still remember Jon Thorrington and Wes Fletcher, but by August I'll have completely forgotten Sean Scannell ever existed.

I think Runaway would have packed his bags sooner as well, if he'd had to face fans every week.
