I have a VW Golf and never had a problem with it, it’s now 8 year old, I’m looking at giving it to my son in August and getting a new one - a VW Golf 1.5 (R line)

I have a 17 plate Merc CLA200, the best car I've ever driven. It's a company car so will get a chance to change it at the end of this year, maybe the beginning of next. I might go for a BMW X1 plug-in hybrid next time.

When retirement was forced on me due to health reasons I decided on a Suzuki Celerio. Versatile boot and over 60mpg in town, got over 80mpg once doing economy driving back from Leeds. I don't spend much time in the car and average 5,000 miles a year, easy to park and does a good job for me. Had Suzuki's before and found them very reliable so I'd recommend one.

I currently have a Seat Ibiza FR. Excellent car, never had any problems with it and would thoroughly recommend. Previously had a Fiat, wouldn't touch them again with a bargepole!

I'm biased because I used to work for the VW group so if you're looking at an Audi, consider a Skoda or a Seat or a VW
They're all from the same stable and use the same components in production
Since I left there, I've mainly driven Fords ( Mondeo and Focus ) which I'm more than happy with
To me a car is all about getting from A to B so it's really whatever you're happy with....folk generally have some kind of brand preference but in reality most cars should suit most people.
It just depends on how much you are prepared to pay

One of the most important things when buying a car though, is to get one with working indicators.
It's amazing the amount of cars you see on the roads these days that don't have this basic function built in.

They've got electric windows Les so you can stick you right hand out, however, your left arm is probably a bit short like mine.

Had a brand new 08plate 2.0 VW Passatt as a company lease car back then, racked up 90k on the 3 yr lease before having to hand it back in. Never missed a beat , nothing went wrong at all on it and other than tyres and servicing never troubled a garage. Very economical too when you cossetted it , personal best of 915 miles off a single tank .

Just bought a Mazda MX-5 NC (2015) 2.0 Sport Tech. Thinking of taking it to BBR in Brackley to get it souped up, midlife crisis Will also be taking it to "JR Classics Ltd" (Doncaster) to future proof it against the dreaded rust, unless anyone knows a local firm (Grimsby) that does it? Not my car but same model and colour....

Bangernomics for me. I'm currently in a 59 plate Insignia which I bought in November. It was the wrong time to buy a car but I needed to because my last one, a Peugeot 207, got hit head on on Frederick Ward Way and Enterprise were hassling me for the car back every other day.
My last 3 cars have come with plenty of receipts and service history. I change the oil and filters myself so it's cheap motoring overall.

When I was in Limerick, they used to call those Kerry cars. If you ventured into County Kerry you never saw a working indicator...perhaps, bearing in mind this was before widespread use of Satnavs, this was because you were also lucky to see a directional sign as well, so coming up to a junction you didn't the feck which way to go...

I’ve got a Ford Puma, decent, mild hybrid, not that great but alright to drive. Boot space does not live up to the alleged amount.
Missus has a Hyundai Tucson. Got a great price on a brand new one, plenty of space and decent to drive.
I don’t earn enough to worry too much…

I've currently got a Seat Ibiza FR in grey. Best car I've ever had. Would get another Seat at the drop of a hat. I used to have a Fiat but would never get another one. Before I had my licence revoked on medical grounds I had a VW Polo, which was a great little car and would never have got rid of it if my license hadn't been revoked for 12 months. Splashed out on a personalised number plate too LE58 REC. Well I say splashed out, it was about the cheapest personalised number plate you can get as it means sodomist all to anyone else.

If you buy a car on HP after the contract has gone halfway you have the right to hand the car back and no further payments. Obviously the car has to be in a good condition, with no dints bumps or scratches and you have to take it where they want it delivered. This works in your favour if the money you have to repay from the halfway point to the end of the contract is going to be more than the value of the car once you have paid the HP off. It worked for me and does not affect your credit score as it is part of the HP contract. The only drawback is you don't have anything to trade-in so you start your next purchase from scratch, but you do save a wedge of cash in the long term.

I looked at a personal number plate DB 2. I said to the wife it's 200, get it she said and then I finished my sentence with GRAND. Well it was a nice thought.

It doesn't impact your credit rating but good luck getting credit from that lender in the future.

I knew someone who's family had the TR7 plate back in the day It was on an old banger but they wouldn't part with it at any price ( at the time - maybe they did once that model had had its heyday )

Been driving a Peugeot 3008 for the past 4 years. It’s 12 years old now and only done 78k miles in it and most of those we’re bringing it over to Ireland.
Just ordered a new Citroen c4 as a company car…….that’s if it ever gets built of course. Current wait is 6 months
