Good summary from RonRafferty, thank you for that.
He wasn't a hero to me as I was a bit too young to see him play but recognise him completely for being a world cup winner and I remember his time with Ireland vividly.
I would have liked more about his time as a player in the great Leeds side and yes, there was way too much about Ireland. I would have liked a better exploration of his relationship with Bobby, as they appeared to be chalk and cheese.
I suspect there was so much about Ireland as it painted him in a very positive light and he might have needed that because in a lot of other ways he came over as a bit of an a*sehole - and I was surprised by that. I didn't watch it expecting to think less of him by the end of it, but in a small way I probably did.

I suspect it concentrated on the Ireland job purely because there were so many people they could interview. His brother is famously not well at the moment and many of the 70s Leeds team have died in recent years.

Yes, they said at the end that Bobby's wife had declined to be involved.

I can understand that as Bobby has the same problems. Jack was always diplomatic in public about Bobby’s wife and the part she played in the estrangement. I think effectively she made Bobby choose between her and his mother. Jack and Bobby did have at least some kind of reconciliation in later life.

Pretty much agree with previous comments about it being very Irelandcentric, especially when I saw it billed as the 'definitive' Jack Charlton documentary. But then he did say himself that he thought what he did for Ireland was a greater achievement than winning the world cup in 66. Still thought it was a very good film mind.

I thought it was a decent programme, lots about his Ireland reign with insights on o'leary and mcgrath, but for all it talked about ireland it skipped over hint that his style was effective apart from in the heat of Florida in 94. Weirdest bit was the u2 section.....

Agree with Ron on this. But it was interesting all the same. Interesting comments from a lot of the Irish about the impact on Irish self-confidence and indirectly on the Anglo-Irish relations and peace process. Bit of a bold claim, but then I’m not Irish. But it can’t have harmed things.

This was on the BBC. Did you really expect a well researched, balanced and objective program? I’m afraid the BBC is a shadow of its former self and not worth the licence fee

The BBC didn’t make the film, they just screened it.
