We have had a good 45 in this game as we have in the last two games.
Ye never know if we can play for a full 90 like we did for the second half of tonight's game we may be okay.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Barrow are 8 points and a game in hand. Tonight was not a success. If we were  mid table a different story, but were not.

Played really well second half and really dug in, matete and coke excellent but again lenny can't finish or we win that game, I see why Hurst bought him in but we need goals and he aint it.

Just all gonna be a little too late imo but the last few games we look harder to beat just cant finish for sh! t.

We are definitely harder to beat now and an unbeaten run is not to be sniffed at, only hope is that it’s a long one and we start stringing wins into it.

Crofty summed it up on RH, is LJL a goal scorer 'NO'. Tells it as he saw it and so did all of us. Another yesterday man.

Your right it's wins we need, not draws. But we need a goal scorer.

Jackson Jnr very good. All a bit too little too late.

LJL has cost us dearly in the past two games unfortunately, shame that wasn’t predictable before he signed...

Back four looked solid again after a tricky start and extended pressure first half , midfield duo compliment each other well and are forming a good partnership/ understanding even tonight were they were outnumbered they didnt get slaughtered , Lamy is growing in confidence, him and Clifton actually playing well together,

our problem is the quality around their box , sure people will point at LJL's miss, rightly so as it was a poor effort in reality.... but that was the only through pass into a strikers feet in the game , probably the first through ball of that type since Payne got his debut goal.  There are very few strikers...in fact there are none, that take every chance they get in a game and if you are only getting one chance per game then the odds are stacked.

For our improved second half there wasnt any significant increase in final quality , Lamy had plenty of crossing opportunities and failed with every one, every free kick we took we failed to create danger, every corner was poor, every "long" throw poor.  Not a single cross into the box for Hanson to get at.

Jackson certainly had a lively cameo, he is the unfinished article but he wants to get forward and is alive, some nice touches and he doesnt stand and admire them either, plays it and spins off.

An improvement of sorts but without quality set pieces, without that ruthless finisher we will need to create 5-6 good chances a game to stand a chance of scoring even one.

TBF I thought he did well in the previous game, in the short time he was on the pitch...  Deserves to start next match.. it may even push the opposition back with the added pace in our side..

At half-time I thought what a pitiful performanc Acceptd that tranmere have better players than we do and are certainly better drilled but the first half was shocking.
However the second half was way better and there are just a few players I would  like to see iretained for next season:
Hewitt, Meyanese, possibly Lammey, Matete could be tempted with the right offer. Jackson was excellent off the bench. Retain Clifton and Hendrie. Spokes looked promising earlier to me. Hanson paid on games played maybe. For me it was just a little shred of optimism in tonight, I accepted the relegation a long time ago

Hewitt, Menayese, Clifton, Hendrie, Macca, Lamy and Matete played well I thought.

I was saying With the front 4 of shop, Hanson, Morais and Lamy was too slow, we either have to play Hanson and Morais with a quicker striker or drop Morais for Jackson as we are too slow to react - game changed when Morais went off

Hewitt is looking very good at CB and Menayese keeps improving

Like I said on Saturday, we just needed a poacher to partner Hanson (shop cost us today)

I thought the back four were all excellent tonight.. again. Coke and Matete are developing a decent partnership, the understanding is growing, they just need to gamble forward on a few more occasions. Jackson looked lively when he came on. He can't play with his back to goal up front, but he asked Tranmere some serious questions facing play coming in from the touchline. Lamy is growing in confidence, he just needs a clearer head with his final ball. We need to sort the front two out. Hanson has to play, but I think Lenny either needs a rest or may get stronger with a few more games under his belt. If he's stopped sulking I wouldn't mind Payne given another go, but this time with a partner to shoulder the burden rather than on his own up top. Got a theory about Morais when he's fit again. Wouldn''t mind seeing him on the left. The oppo have got him sussed and cutting off his right side so he could give himself more scope by checking back to cross from the left or to cut inside on his stronger foot. Maybe the very useful Tranmere side tired a bit after their efforts on Sunday, but we're a confidence building unbeaten in three with only one goal conceded. We may be on life support, but we ain't dead yet..

in fairness to lamy he's predominantly right footed , so wide out left isn't helping him.
can only echo the positive comments on here.Would also add that Clifton looks like the best left back we've had all season

Ok, well it's good to keep a clean sheet against a top team.

But we have chucked away so many 'easy' points that draws are not really much good to us. We have lost ground to Barrow and Port Vale this week and time is running out fast. 12 games to close an 8 point gap plus GD.

I though we needed to win 8 of our last 15 games. Now its 8 of our last 12. Maybe 7 if we are lucky. Cant see it personally. We create so few chances that we would need an extraordinary marksman to score enough goals. We clearly don't have one.

Much better 2nd half albeit from a v low base. Still didn't create much in the way of chances but lenny has to be burying that one we did create.

As mentioned Clifton, from a defensive viewpoint, our best left back of the season and not the first time he's had a good game there. Attacking wise not so much as he is right footed and inexperienced in that role, but he did have the vision to spot some great passing opportunities that his passing ability failed to live up to. But he has good vision and terrible passing wherever he plays.
We were v solid defensively even with mecca back, who pulled off a damn good save. Keep waterfall and his minimum of 1 huge clanger per game out of there and we might keep a few clean sheets. Think Hewitt dropped a bollock but given his pace was able to rectify it, coupled with the fact he is able to play a bit further forward so didn't drop it in his own box like waterfall would have.

Jackson looked good as a wide player, not a striker at this level but definitely improved us when he came on.

Lamy wasn't great for me, far too  much tackling himself, poor passing and crossing and no end product. However he does have some flair and offers something, a bit reminiscent of Edwards although probably not as good.

Its all going to be far too little too late I fear though.

Well that's a point I would taken before the game.

Three games unbeaten and only one goal conceded.

Macca has kept two clean sheets in two games.

All plus points so a decent night.

If we can go unbeaten in the next three games I think we will have a chance.

Port Vale and Colchester can be dragged into the fight so it's not just Barrow we have to overtake.

I said it a couple of weeks ago, where are the goals coming from.
Meaning in basic terms, you can't play lenny and Hanson. In fact, you can't play Hanson full stop.
Baring in mind the squad we have and how much I think of Hewitt, len is the first name on the team sheet.
It should have been len and Payne 3games ago, but baring in mind the manager is still learning, I'll let him off. Payne was crap, but then he would be playing with Hanson. Stick him with lenny is a different matter.
If there was a way of getting Hanson to drop deeper, len further up with somebody else running past Hanson, that might work. As it is, it won't. Ever. We might get the odd goal, but it's not going to be consistent. He must have known this months ago

As for lens miss, we knew full well he couldnt shoot 5year ago. So unless he's been attending the Chris doig school of shooting, nothing would have changed. And that's OK. It's upto the other striker and god forbid some of the others to weigh in with afew.

We need a new right back next season. 100%. We also need a replacement for hanson
Matete I'd imagine might want to venture back towards London? I don't buy the bit about wanting to win a place at Fleetwood. That ships sailed I think. Surely we could offer what he's getting at Fleetwood, or maybe not

Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong
Update:  I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

LJL is never going to be a prolific scorer.

So why on earth did we pay a fee for him? Knowing that we needed goals.

All this garbage about ‘he’s not here to score goals’ doesn’t wash either, he put them in in NLN which unfortunately appears to be his level

It's the morning after and I feel conned for paying out 10 quid again. What I saw was just a repeat of a 2 team town, poor one half and slightly better the other.

Kids use to say it's a YMCA dinner, yesterdays muck cooked again.

We have a YMCA team. YESTERDAYS MEN CRAPPY AGAIN.

And where exactly might we find a decent goal-scorer who wants to play for a team bottom of the 4th division? In a fantasy world I suppose we might attract the equivalent of Liam Hearn, Omar Bogle or Padraig Amond, but in this rather annoying real world we live in, that my friend just ain't gonna happen.

It will be going on for 20 years now since we had a strong midfield.  The Board and numerous managers have failed to address these weaknesses.  Any team failure starts with a weak midfield.

The cause is lack of funding, poor choice in managers, managers making poor recruitment decision from the financial resources available.  Etc. Etc.  Not a lack of support from the fans.

We are where we are unfortunately.  Probably where we deserve to be.  All very very sad.

Just about spot on summary for me.

I thought Tranmere looked quite poor, possibly after Sunday's game I don't know or perhaps they rested a few players but there was another chance of getting three points missed.

As I said when LJL signed, nobody is asking for that either. A happy medium would be nice (and is attainable). We went with the nostalgia option in which we knew what we were getting but kidded ourselves anyway.

I don’t doubt what LJL adds, but it’s not what we needed for the scrap IMO

Do you honestly believe Hurst signed LJL out of “nostalgia”?

I’m 1000% sure we wouldn’t have paid a fee for him from NLN at his age with his record in the league had he not played for us previously.
