This is an interesting article with some profound parallels to our own situation.

I think the title is quite apt for us too, and that we have to find hope in hopelessness.

Not really that interesting. It's another tale of a fan whose team are up excrement creek and losing grip on the paddle, hoping that his team can do what another team did once.

Hope? The last time Grimsby Town had Hope he was excrement.

And when you fall back into the mud it hurts a lot.
No! None of it was true, none of those things we thought we could see existed at all.
All that was really there was still more misery

I'm reminded of the old gag:- You have two hopes. No Hope and Bob Hope.

I don't think the situation is hopeless. 11 new players and 19 games remaining is plenty of points to go after. If the new players live up to their billing then we will pick up some wins.

We just don't know if we will pick up enough. 50 points is normally the safety mark. So we need 29 points: 9 wins and 2 draws 8 defeats. Who knows. maybe a few points less will be enough.

That's more wins than we have achieved so far this season and it wont be easy. But as Confucius said, a journey of 10,000 miles begins with a single step.

I am hoping the first step will happen on Saturday.

Dead easy, just take the first four letters and leave the lessness. Next question?

“If all mankind minus one, were of one opinion, and only one person were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person, than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind.”
