A wise man once told me that it's the talented people who have the most luck and the more talented you are, the luckier you become. I've found that to be generally true as I've gone through life.

Back in 1972 Lee Trevino beat Tony Jacklin in the Open after chipping in from off the green a couple of times, famously at the 17th on the final day.

A reporter said 'You had some good luck there Lee,' to which Trevino replied 'Well, the funny thing is, the more I practice the luckier I get.'

I recall something similar about a young lad from Donny who use to practise for hours when training finished, at scunny of all places.

If we're relying on luck, we might as well give up.

It's not a one-off game, it's a 46-game season.  As Tommy very eloquently points out, there's little in football is luck.  Those lucky/unlucky situations where you get the freak deflection generally level out over the season.

The key difference between those at the top and bottom, especially at our level, is taking advantage of chances and/or limiting the chances gifted to the opposition.

The pleasing thing on Saturday that we created literally dozens of opportunities to get a good delivery into the box, sadly we didn't take many of those opportunities at all.  I believe that we've actually got enough quality out wide now to start whipping in decent crosses and the right people in the box to take advantage.  Even if the quality out wide is debatable and needing 10 attempts to get 2 or 3 in, I think that works too.  The opportunities we had to get balls in the box on Saturday was so high, that the percentage game comes in at some point.

Having Morais back, providing he's in Hurst's plans, could be crucial for our survival as he can and will deliver good crosses on a largely consistent basis.
