Having a look at Newport’s great escape season in 16/17 and their position looked a lot worse than ours.  After 27 games they was rock bottom and they ended up staying up. With Hartlepool, who was ten points above them being relegated. Anything’s possible, keep the faith.

I’m guilty of being negative more often than not this season, but looking back at it today, you could see something was there. The season isn’t over till we are mathematically relegated.

Their form after 27 games.

Anyone remember the Monkey Hanger trolls, disappeared without trace.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

If Hurst keeps us up it’ll eclipse anything he did before at the club.

They say it’s always darkest just before the dawn, and I hope that’s true because things have looked pretty dark recently.

I understand the disappointment we’re feeling tonight (and this time last week) but I saw some really positive signs in the first half today. Newport are a good team at this level and we reduced them to one chance which was a deflected freekick to tap in from.

Hurst had to do something drastic in the transfer window and he’s signed almost an entirely new XI. If he hadn’t we were down anyway. With this lot we’ve got basically a half season to string enough together to get safe.

Give these signings five more games together before we start playing the dirge.

I’m hopeful but no more. We just lost to a team with 10 men that hadn’t won in eight. The problem we have now is a lack of experience in central midfield.

I'm optimistic but last 6 games :-
Max points 18  we got 1
Goals for 2
Goals against  11
Clean sheets 1

If we win the next 3 and assume Barrow and Stevenage don't get any points we will still be below Bolton and Bradford. It's doable but it's also one hell of a mountain to climb.

Will we stay up, yep just. I hope.

I thought it was a massive improvement today, in effectively that teams first game, I'm disappointed tonight but frankly that's much  better  than the feeling of total dejection from the last few months.

Onwards and upwards!
