It’s all gone very quiet.
Everything was agreed re the fenty money.
So it should be a quick deal.

Are they having second thoughts let’s face it 2 million for a conference team is a ludicrous sum of money.

I know you're just trying to stir the pot as you're bored on a Sunday but this is still incredibly silly even for you. I'll assume that you've never been involved in the purchase of much more than accompanying your mum to go buy a new toaster because you seem to lack an understanding of how money and legal aspects of a company changing hands. I imagine the transfer window is taking front seat though plenty is going on behind the scenes as far as both parties making sure everything is right and there are no nasty surprises lurking anywhere in the club finances or how the consortium will fund the club.

Nobody has 2 million just sort of sitting in a bank account, John Fenty isn't pulling out a card reader from the club shop so they can swipe their platinum card. It's very much a "how long is a piece of string" situation with a lot of work to be done in due diligence and contracts, it doesn't just happen overnight. If you've ever bought and sold property you will know how annoying and long winded a process that can be so now times it by a ton more assets to account for before contracts can be signed and everything changes hands. The consortium are already involved in the day to day goings on, decisions being made and so on as they'll be getting hands on with every aspect of running the club as this phase goes through.

I'm sure everyone would love to underline a period in the club history with Fenty riding off into the sunset tomorrow with his bag of money and the club to have a fresh start but it's just going to take a little more time. I'm sure if people whine enough there will be a non update on the website with all of this information in better words that just says "please wait while we deal with accounts, lawyers, contracts and so on. This isn't a case of walking up to the club and saying "I want that one" then it just changes hands. Everything agreed in principle is different from a takeover deal closing and sure, it could still fall through but at this stage of proceedings it's unlikely as negotiations have finished.
