After todays loss to the mighty Stevenage it's the lowest I've felt since we got back into the EFL, just saying.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Another weekend ruined, absolutely sick of it, for the last few seasons we have had to endure lengthy periods where we are incapable of winning matches and if ever a team deserves to go down it’s us.

Can’t ever seem to get a decent side whatever players come into the club, livid.

To be honest I’m not surprised by that result, we are a shambles from top to bottom.

I feel the same. It seems that we are destined to go down this year. I was SO happy with finally seeing a  goal. Well... that lasted long....
The defence made two terrible mistakes today and that is our downfall. Just not good enough.

Agreed. Realistically we're going down barring the National League being abandoned. We're still just about in touch with Barrow, but we've just had a long run of 11 relatively easy games of bottom-half teams and we've only got the win over Scunny and a couple of 0-0s to show for it.

I'm the same. Cannot believe they conceded immediately after getting an equaliser. But, then, I can. It's a trait we have had for years.

They simply are not good enough. This must be the worst team we have ever had. And if we go down I can see the slide continuing. It feels like the end.

Disappointed beyond belief with the ending, but from a very messed up and doomed team, Hurst is making progress and I do think with so many games left, we will be ok.

For the first time since Orient away, we kept the ball and looked like we had players in midfield who could retain possession and space.

I know we lost, but all is not lost.

Thank god Holloway has f***** off

Up until today I've not really convinced we'd go down, after today I'm sure the only thing that can save us is the National League packing up.

How will that work, Rob?

If the National League abandons the season does that automatically mean there will be no relegation from L2 or promotion from the NL?

I can't imagine that Torquay will be happy with that.

We knew a month ago what we needed to do.

Sign some good players. 6 at least.

Why the intercourse didn't we just make the players we need an offer they couldn't refuse?

And don't anyone dare suggest it's the cap. We are nowhere near the cap, and lets' face it paying off about a dozen of the fuckwits in the squad would free up even more.

Once again we are going down because we tried to do it on the cheap.

flipping stupid.

I haven't celebrated a Town goal as much as I did that equaliser all season and don't think I've felt so deflated after a goal ever. Bar maybe the Bristol Rovers play off final. It's desperate.

Mate I sympathise I really do. Normally when we lose I shout and stamp my feet for 10 mins and then I’m ok and looking forward to the next game. But today is totally different, I just cannot calm down. I’m a grown man (or meant to be!!) but I just care so much and they’re totally doing my head in. Pathetic really but there it us and I know so many others feel the same way. I just wonder how many of that team are feeling as bad as I am at this moment. Not many I bet.

I’ve not felt like this after a game before, even after Bristol Rovers.

Absolutely stunned and cannot see a way back. Wish we’d not bothered scoring.

Not as bothered as I should be. Been slowly losing my love for GTFC over the last 2 to 3 years. Was elated when we got back in the league, but we just never pushed on as we should.

Lost a lot of my emotional attachment to be honest.

Whilst we played what appeared better than recently in the first half with a couple of decent shots, we were pitiful in the second half, until we scored we hadn't troubled their defence.

So far there has been no real improvement under Paul Hurst even starting a game with only 2 Holloway signings.

It was not a good day today and it’s going to make it more difficult looking at the fixtures.

There is still time for us to drag others into it. I really believe we will improve, really like the look of Matete and we managed to score from open play today.

I expect a couple of signings before Monday and a much better February. We are not adrift and if we are in this position with 5 games to go I will be a lot less confident.

Headingly, I can objectively see what you're saying and agree. However, in my heart, we've been here before and we're hitting the panic button as we're in such a terrible state, it's shades of 2010 all over again.

I know it‘s hard to agree at the minute but I don’t think we are as bad as in 2010. We now know it was much worse than we thought even though there are real similarities.

Woodsy got us playing towards the end but it was too late even though we took it to the last game. I expect Hurst to turn our form round quicker, if that happens we have a chance.

Yes, have to agree. At least with Hurst he will not stand for ill discipline and a drinking culture and will at least get the players putting in a decent shift. But we still lack quality and experience in key areas and have too many error prone players..

i think that's unfair arry. first half was the best we've played for ages. and don't forget the only thing Mckeown did all game was to pick the ball out of the net twice..payne and Matete both look like good signings and it's difficult to believe that the Tunisian lad won't be either. Harbegam& Hanson  weren't great today but are still a big improvement on Preston and Green

It's the hope, it's always the hope.

If we had lost 1-0 it would have been better than 2-1

For one minute there was that modicum of hope and it was cruelly snatched away from us.

I think we are much worse than in 2010. We need another 23 points from 20 games just to equal 2010's points tally.

We are much worse than 2010.

If people put their anti Hurst feelings to one side it’s impossible not to see just how poor we are. urine poor decisions making and lack of actual leadership at the club has found us back in the quagmire of relegation fight after relegation fight.

The catalogue of errors over the last calendar year is astounding, blaming Covid for everything was tiresome after 2 games yet it continued. The club is knackered and the man who blew smoke you everyone’s bottom is equally as much to blame as the bloke who folk think saves the club.

We can go on and on about the abject failure to run the club appropriately and effectively, we all know the reasons but right now we have to be honest and realistic and at this stage we look destined for the drop. Again!

Yesterday was a huge kick in the balderdash, our own doing mind, but still, massive kick in them. The way in which we conceded both goals was just abysmal, not sure it would matter who was in charge, they’re player mistakes and they’ve been aplenty this season so far.

Hurst knew it was a massive job so fair play for putting his head above the parapet, will he pull it off? We all hope so but I’d hazard a guess that even he thinks it’s impossible...

We need 1 more win than Barrow and Southend,  two more than Stevenage.

That last minute gaffe was costly in that it denied us a point, but it gave Stevenage an extra 2, which puts them that little bit further out of reach.

As things stand there is a mini league of four clubs at the bottom, then a bit of a gap to Harrogate. Of those 4, only 2 go down. At the moment, ourselves and Southend look the most likely, but all of them bar us have had an upturn in results lately. There is no reason we can't do the same.

There is also a chance that some other team or teams will get dragged in yet.

Well, you are the most pessimistic poster on the fishy. I never see you make a positive post about anything.

I remember people saying we were down under Jolley, but we won 4 of our last 5 games. Anything can happen, especially when you start playing teams with nothing to play for in mid table,

I am not sure what there is to be positive about, second from bottom, lost at home to a team that hadn't won away for over a year.

I did say at the time when Neil Woods was given the job after a disastrous caretaker spell he would take us down, sadly I was proved right.

I said that too about Woods. But I am more confident that Hurst might keep us up. Won't be easy, but I think we have an outside chance.

For me we need a rock solid centre-half which we don't have at the moment. You only have to look at the recent goals we have conceded that that area is a weak point as well as scoring goals.

I can remember being at Aldershot almost 11 years to the day and having the same feeling of inevitability when Proudlock missed a late penalty, I hope I'm wrong but everything seems to be going against us at the moment
We became a non league club and everything about the club has stayed in that mindset.

I agree on Woods. He should never have been given the job and that was one of the worst decisions this club has made. A real turning point in our history. Even he managed to take it to the wire though.

Hurst has more about him you'd think.
