Paul Hurst has told his Grimsby Town players they need to adapt to the pitch at Blundell Park, with the Mariners boss describing the conditions as “not ideal”.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Hope Paul knows that, since he was last here, we’ve been doing our football and our PR on the field. It’s going to cut up like a stash of Peruvian marching powder

Thought I saw Paul Merson

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

The pitch should be in pristine condition considering the amount of shite it's had on it this season.

Did any other clubs furlough the groundsman and then literally leave their pitch?

We are the only club of the 92 to have covid clauses in contracts, so it's more than possible we are the only one to put the groundsman on furlough. Not to mention the assistant manager.

What a forward thinking club we are.

Is that a fact? The clubs asked the EFL to draw up covid clauses for them to all insert into the contracts. I'd be completely amazed if we are the only club that used them when it was the clubs that asked for them in the first place.

I thought it had been made clear that town were in fact the only club in the end that used Covid clauses so I guess we could safely assume that we were the only one that furloughed the groundsman.

It’s hard to see how on earth the club arrived at that decision or how they even justified it...surely even Fenty and co weren’t that stupid or tight to furlough the bloke who is responsible for making the one thing we definitely need perfect or as near as to do our job properly...

It would take a lot of research to find out if 91 other EFL clubs inserted the clauses or not, we certainly know of several that didn't, but this sort of thing isn't typically publicised and I think it was Holloway who let slip of it and several other things that he probably shouldn't have in the first place. I don't think many clubs used them, but I'd be very surprised if we were the only one.
