He won’t come back. He’s got another year at Newport after this one, so why uproot if you don’t need to?

He got plenty right and he got plenty wrong. Which is what you'd expect of any manager. Even the best.

I don't mean to be negative and I'm not being critical of the appointment, but this picture that's painted now of Hurst being a recruitment specialist is a bit off the mark for me.

Yeah he signed good players, and he also signed some terrible ones.
Brodie, C.Taylor, G.Pearson, Spencer, Hoban, Tomlinson, Straker, Fyfield etc.

He did have a decent record but was far from perfect. I'm not trying to say he was poor in the market, just that I think the views towards this should be a bit more balanced.

When you consider it was a Fenty budget and him negotiating contracts, there’s always going to be some misjudgements. At the end of the day, he always had us competing and that all I ask.
