Let’s be brutally honest, we are never likely to attract a manager of this calibre ever again, particularly while this cabal are in charge. So how did the board persuade him to come and how come he seems to have towed the party line regarding budget? Yes, it was important to plan for the Covid fallout but to not sign players till just before the season and base a preseason on one friendly against Cleethorpes is plainly cheap skating.

Regards the boardroom, Philip Day is just a fall guy. The same Penny rich, pound thick mentality remains and our ambition, pathetic as it is, is Football League survival. If I were Holloway, I would go. Not because of the fans but because I, like many before, have been shortchanged by John Fenty.

The problem is Fenty has no emotional intelligence,running a football club is not like being a fish merchants.A football club brings together a large sections of the community and for many people is the one constant in their life and is a link to past generations and generations to come. This is a failing that too many business men make when taking over a football club.It is a great responsibility and success is not measured by the bottom line.


Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day,teach a man to fish and you give him an excuse for him to escape from the wife and kids for the weekend and drink lots of beer.
